I never had any problems with DDoS of our email servers. If we have one, we're gonna 1) check that our MTA is up to date 2) check that we got fail2ban rules for POP&SMTP failed logins 3) use a haproxy and ban by subnet/country

you can already have 128gb per DIMM with DDR4. not sure if its up to spec, but it works usually. 128gb dimms are more than double the price of 64gb dimms, so it not always economically viable unless you need max memory density.

because the speed is not the only concern. also, sha2 is already hardware accelerated, and may still be faster than the rest of the hashes.

While I find the question puzzling, i find the description lacking. The whole explanation of anon maps is redundant, since the behavior of anon maps seems to be the same as the behavior of plain memory - its evicted on low memory conditions

I'm surprised no one mentioned openstack. I never deployed it, but by mere reading its deployment docs, its going to be a mess in production and its not doable by a solo dev. Anybody care to correct me?

Docker. Images without command line tools(best practice!) Obscure init systems. Unmountable overlay FSes. Dangling images eating all the disk, not removable by prune. Root permissions everywhere and general necessity to debug images way too
