They want the address book because if you don't have engagement promotion features like that, there is no way to ever become remotely popular in the chat app space. Why is the security a joke? The data is e2e encrypted, and isn't

Actually they moved onto UWP, then they moved onto WinUI 3. Now all this talk about MAUI but they have done zero dogfooding of it. People are sceptical of WinUI 3 but at least they used it in Windows 11.

Then you just have Beeper. It costs a lot of money to maintain bridges to these messaging apps. It's not sustainable to have all of them in a single app.

All cloud hosting is "somebody-elses-server". Serverless is more like "pay-per-function-call" in which case Azure Functions has a pretty appropriate name. Also, the cost of renting databases has nothing to do with newnes

As someone doing full-stack PHP in 2014 I'm not sure about that. SO was filled with bad advice for PHP and JavaScript. It was so bad you could use it as a guidebook for writing outdated insecure code.

As someone who loved Knockout when the only alternative was jQuery, I can't wait for it to die. Same for jQuery and any other library that we've found better alternatives for. I'm surprised by the number of people swearing by

Alright but the types are a wholly different language and cannot be parsed by JavaScript linters. Same as Svelte. People need to learn Typescript in order to use it, it does not come naturally. I don't understand how the same argument

React is one of the few popular libraries well known for it's lack of opinion. Every React project is different and it's hard to consolidate developers on how things should be done. If you want common ground you'd go for Angu

Most front-end devs already use a translation layer - Typescript. So I don't understand the need to draw an arbitrary line between what can and cannot be used to make a good web application.

Virtual DOM offers nothing but slowness. If I can get the same things without it why would I need it. It's a solution to a problem compilers like Solid and Svelte don't have so it's so odd to see someone argue for it. Like co
