I had the same experience. When I was in high school, there was a group of "Quorans" (including a few "prominent" ones) that used to hangout on G+/hangouts, and I used to stop by from time to time. Back then I was v

I know several companies, including one I've worked for before, with very strict no company property laptop or phone policy for entering China. Issues were mainly related to IP and data sovereignty.

I was a big fan of the $25 referral bonuses in the early days. Probably saved a few hundred dollars overall.

A personal example of this from the past week. I got an offer in SF for ~150k, which would require me moving from a medium/high COL location. My friend gets an offer in Huntsville, Alabama for ~90k. Guess who has the higher cost of liv

Definitely agree that equity compensation carries risk. However, I've seen equity pitched as a way to "make up" for the lower cash comp a startup might offer. This is probably the wrong way to look at equity. The expected val

When I received my most recent startup offer, I was handed a spreadsheet that outlined the size of my option, and what they would be worth under multiple hypothetical scenarios, including highly-optimistic >400M and >3B valuations. Wh

I think there is a demographic and/or preference shift occurring. The small liberal arts college I attended recently had a year where it could only fill 600 out of 700 potential seats. The college filled out all 700 seats the next year

I had the same reaction. Every time I visit/fly over places like New York and SF I'm torn. Waterfront properties are beautiful, but then I think back to the dynamic ecosystem and landscape that was there 300-600 years ago and how
