I've tried to switch from TST to Sidebery twice and both times hit small but bad bugs (restore not working on browser restart) and went back to TST. It's simultaneously slicker but buggier. It looks like Sidebery is still under de

Sadly the 1Password extension doesn't really work on Orion (no inline autofill and very long UI delays)

They have a great license too. I can bring my personal license to my work computers so it makes it a no-brainer to just buy the license and then use it everywhere. They recently made that one license work cross platform too, and retroactive

Looks neat. Seems to have a lot of overlap with Kasm Workspaces ( https://www.kasmweb.com/ ) which is another cool project.

Cloudflare Tunnels (formerly Argo Tunnels) are a free complement to Cloudflare Access. It's an easy way to expose internal servers to the public internet, which you can then lock down with Cloudflare Access.

This is super cool. It's awesome to see someone trying to tackle this problem. I assume no carrier/mvno will adapt this but I'd be extremely happy to be wrong. I would instantly switch to a provider that made use of this tech

> This feels like some third world country shit. It’s very frustrating when people say things like this because until it “feels like some typical US shit” nothing can get better. Let’s get past all the American Exceptionalism ASAP please

If you're willing to say "this deduction only helps wealthy Californians but I define 'wealthy' as people buying median-priced (and lower) homes" than I'll get on board with that statement. I don't think i

I often see this said but you can do some quick math to see it affects more than wealthy people. A median single-family home in CA is now $800k, so the property tax on that would almost be enough to hit the $10k. And that’s before any other

The better takeaway here isn’t “omg a writer of great stories isn’t a good speller?” but rather “Crowe was still writing screenplays in 1996 in a medium that didn’t have spell check”

Seagate Ironwolf is cmr on the lower end line making it cheaper than the analogous WD Red Plus line. Given the price and that Seagate hasn’t recently fucked consumers I would recommend those drives instead.

Yes, even JS Twitter is extremely toxic by my definition. But more importantly there is no group of people you can follow to keep the ratio of JS related content above even 10%. It’s not a reasonable way of following a topic.

This is exactly the problem: Twitter, unlike other platforms like Reddit and even Facebook, make curation impossible. Want to follow someone who posts a lot of interesting things about JS? Be prepared to see posts they like about curry pood

The internet in general is prone to “the loudest 1%” problem, but Twitter is something special where it’s the craziest and loudest 0.01%. It’s so sad because all JS related discourse moved to Twitter at some point so I keep trying to make i

A lot of the “Ruby on Rails with Textmate” crowd came from Java where you used full IDEs (in addition to the LAMP developers who were not using IDEs).

In California, where earthquakes are a concern, wood frames are highly preferable. I think it’s illegal to even build a house with unreinforced masonry (eg plain brick) since it’s a death trap.
