It's amazing that Cringely can be so consistently off the mark about everything to such a wild degree and still have a column that people link to.

I've found RimuHosting to be worth the small premium for sure. I've never had a support request take more than 15 minutes to be fully resolved in a competent and friendly manner... how many hosts can that be said of? So yeah, I highly reco

It's not select based, it is event based, utilizing the relatively new support for event-driven IO in the Linux and FreeBSD kernels (kqueue/epoll).

How ridiculous. He presents a very simple, easy to read recursive function as the solution, but claims "This is risky: what if someone redefines or deletes the method? Can it be done without defining any methods, to prevent this problem?"

Is it just me or is Xobni the perfect example of all that is ridiculous about what is or isn't this bubble we have nowadays? I mean seriously... a social networking Outlook plugin?

webmail.us is extremely well run, despite their enterprisey web page. I would recommend them very highly.

I'm always surprised by how few people recommend Vienna. If you're on the Mac and you're a power user, there just isn't another RSS reader that gets the shortcut keys right. It even has slight variations on how some of the navigation work

You need to find some way of seeding the current projects. The site looks baron as is. Perhaps you can pledge on a few projects that you could use internally.

I'm subscribed to ~25 podcasts but wouldn't recommend most of them... which I guess means it's time for me to clean up my list. Here are some that I would recommend: Non-tech (in order of awesomeness): 30 Seconds with Phone Guy; WNYC's Rad

Sorry, but it's not online anymore. Though if you're curious, it was the part of the essay about people using words that don't mean anything. No but seriously, what the hell does it mean to be "offended?"

That wasn't a terrible article, but some of these suggestions were bad. Why would slow performance stop you from using url_for() when you should be caching the resulting html anyway? If you're going to take this approach to performance opt

If there's a way of uploading an OPML file on your site, I'm not seeing it. Most people who are fanatic about RSS aren't going to be able to manually input the URL to each of their feeds due to the sheer number of feeds they subscribe to.

The format of the output is somewhat less important, although I just seem to think RSS feeds are a inherently superior way to get content than a list of links. The INPUT on the other hand is extremely important. Take a look at Reddit... yo
