I don't interpret "Limit Ad Tracking" as "off". As another comment mentioned, the only effective mechanism is to reset the identifier periodically. That's not a disable mechanism, though.

There are ARM systems that don't need blobs. Whether they are useful to you is a different question. An example is the iMX line from NXP.

As long as there is choice (e.g. between fTPM and dTPM) then it's up to the eye of the beholder to pick appropriately. An fTPM is better than nothing, but discrete TPMs have certifications.

I really hate how Microsoft replaced the Sketch app with their Whiteboard app. It was perfect on the Go. The Whiteboard app now requires you to login in to cloud services just to draw a squiggles. I'd rather not have my notes forced in

The first Surface Go can run Ubuntu pretty well. The Pentium Gold processor is a bit of a let down, though.

There is no such thing as perfect security - it is always a risk assessment exercise. Secure enclaves in general are not snake oil. Secure elements and TPMs, for example, are evaluated by independent testing bodies to high levels of securit

Great project. I had to do some command line video editing a while ago and it was a fiddly and frustrating process. Keep going!

What's the reason for the shutdown? Not enough donations? Too many/few users?

I think grandparent comment was referring to the CPU part not whole SoC. Arm has never sold entire SoC beyond a limited number of test chips. Juno is a test/evaluation chip only.

Sure, but putting the chip to sleep is one instruction, and programming the timer interval is only about a dozen instructions. So you don't really need an OS in this context.

Not sure there is any mechanism to prevent the big core from interfering with the little core (apart from using virtualization or running OpenBSD in TrustZone).

The Apple brand is one of the strongest brands in the world. Blackberry was always a bigger brand than RIM itself. Doesn't make sense to ditch an abandon a big brand. Another interesting case is when HP decided to spin off their PC bus

It costs you nothing to sideload an app (other than time), but it costs money to make a company. Not a fitting analogy.

If the video quality is low enough then Netflix and co don't bother. It also varies on who is the content supplier, some are less fussed about protecting content that doesn't bring in much money.
