With a physical bus reset attack you can also set PCR values without any authentication, which essentially breaks attestation. Also only some TPMs have anti tamper features and security certification (best ignore the ones that don't).

Microsoft signed an open source bootloader called Shim, which can run out of the box on any PC. You can use Shim to load your own GRUB2 and set your own keys. Shim is used by Fedora, Ubuntu, and Debian so far. A good writeup is available he

The bus between the CPU and the TPM is exposed, so there are plenty of physical attacks that you can do, assuming a certain level of skill and tools.

Yep. I've tried Android apps on ChromeOS and iOS apps on macOS. They're so out of place and clunky...the average computing user just won't like them. The developer angle is the only one that makes sense.

> The ARM architecture design makes it near impossible for an early boot backdoor to, say, run your OS in an undetectable VM too. Can you explain this? It doesn’t sound right.

Technically, “was” is wrong because the new Nest Hub doesn’t run any part of Android. These are Flutter apps targeted specifically for Fuschia. There’s no evidence yet that they will run Android on top of Fuschia.

TrustZone is a CPU mode, hence it is not fully isolated from normal CPU operation. The CPU chooses to enter it and the current CPU state gets saved/restored. It contains the highest exception level, so it is able to access all memory.

The way I see it is that x86 is still around despite ARM, so ARM will still be around despite RISC-V. No reason why all three can't exist.

You can be brilliant and kind. These things are not mutually exclusive, as some might lead you to believe. You should not tolerate assholes because of their brilliance.
