I am less than happy that Google Maps is dead. OpenStreetMap is still far from being comparable. I think I made a mistake with the figures. I just checked that email again and it says 10,000$ for 1 million page views per day for public faci

When you can't innovate anymore, you increase your prices. After a few years, the company becomes a dinosaur loaded with cash... like Microsoft.

10,000$ per million page views per year. So it's 10$ per 1000, more than the 8$ or 4$ per 1000 that was announced. I don't know any big site that gets more than 10$ per 1000 pageviews with ads. It's insane!

In Canada, the standard work week is 40 hours. Often it's 37.5. 52? 6 days a week? Not every job allows for it. You want to abolish week-ends? Come on.

If one is not able to reach his peak potential, then his own problem and not an IQ measurement deficiency. I'll read the IQ value that you're able to reach, not the value that you might reach potentially if you make an effort. Being able to

Unless they delay the publication a bit, and profit on the volume of trades done by their subscribers. The old dirty trick of moving prices of low-volume stocks.

The post mentions Montreal. Where it does snow, it rains seldom during winter and sunny, but cold, days are the norm from December to March. You can't generalize on the weather in a 10 million square kilometer country.

It was more about the parent's post SGI nostalgia. It's all nice, but my machine's power adapter is 60W. That's its maximal theoretical output. (okay, with 90% efficiency that's 67W). It typically uses 20W to 40W depending on the load. Plus

No need to bash if you don't know anything about it. Winter in Canada is better than most places. Instead of getting lots of rain you get lots of snow. It's nice to have more than 2 or 3 seasons.

You guys are crazy. What a waste. Heavy machines, power hungry machines. How much carbon is spent to deliver and run these? What an environmental waste! Donate to a charity instead.

Brilliant but weak. Doesn't belong on Hacker News, should be on n00b news.
