I believe E-ink displays do this for faster updates for touch interactivity. Updatimg the whole display as the user writes on the touch screen would otherwise be too slow for Eink.

I used to be a display architect about 15 years back (for Qualcomm mirasol, et al), so my knowledge of the specifics / numbers is outdated. Sharing what I know. High pixel density displays have disproportionately higher display refres

Excel has many classical dialog boxes with text that becomes too small on high resolution displays. May be they fixed in newer versions (mine is 2021). Excel is better than other spreadsheet alternatives I have seen though, but is mo longe

Interesting. Seems like software could be made a notch more robust by encoding true and false with a larger number of bit differences.

Genuinely asking -- How about the camera? I keep hearing that camera is much better on 17 pro than 17 base. The OP article keeps saying camera on 17e is 'stunning', but again, I am waiting to find out how it compares with 17 pro.

I have indeed seen that with humans as well, including in conference papers and medical journals. The reference citations in papers is seen by many authors as another section they need to fill to get their articles accepted, not as a natura

Thanks. How hard is it to handle cases where the starting positions of ellipsoids in 3D is not correct (being too off). How common is such a scenario with the state of the art? E.g., if having only a stereoscopic image pair, the correspon

AFAIK and IANAL. Algorithms are considered mathematics and not patentable in themselves. So even if prompts are seen as algorithms, they would not be patentable. Prompts would have the usual copyright protections. I presume though that so

+1 Interruptions are 'breaks' that clear your context memory by drawing it to something else entirely. An activity like lunch, shower, etc., actually help by giving you moments to ruminate thoughts related to the deep work at hand

Hi Can, I looked at the simulator mentioned at the end of the post. The deep work I am often in requires way more than an hour of it and with continuity. This is because a lot of context needs to be held in memory and the loss from interru

The tech industry has such inefficiencies nearly everywhere. There's no good explanation why an AI model that knows so much could be smaller than a typical OS installation. I could once optimize a solution to produce over 500x improve

Is tbat saying that all software should be free? And extending beyond software, that all books, art, movies, etc., should be free to copy? Likewise, would it be fine for anyone to use any other company's logo?
