That makes sense, and I can imagine that. However, should it not be possible for the software to find a minimal cover for the formatting that would produce the same visual output, thereby practically recovering what hard-crafted markup woul

I follow that viewpoint and am OK with the direction being taken. On the other hand, even after asking many, I have never received a good answer to why the exactness and understanding cannot be obtained with a WSYIWYG/M markup editor.

Think about how many people in the world are missing on the benefits of such markup languages because they aren't interested in non-WYSIWYG/M. The market potential could be much higher if syntax learning can be avoided.

I have a basic question partly related to the project. When a markup can be compiled so fast, what's the fundamental reason we don't have WSYIWYG software that saves in the markup format as the norm.

If something hot is placed in the room, mosquitoes should have a preference for that over the humans. Why would such a simple set up to avoid mosquito bites would not work (I do not think it does)? Genuinely looking to enhance my understa

As a user of LinkedIn, I can pick which portions of my profile information I would like to be publicly available. This is not by default, so most people do not have it public. You can try seeing my profile without logging in. :-)

Can someone please explain the argument in easier terms? I am stuck here itself: >> Then from the law of motion of the star we can derive an equation: >> u=f(t-t0) The function 'f' is not specified. What is it and how

No BS. It says there that the materials "will be" shared. I guess someone has posted this on HN too soon. PS: I am not associated with the team or the company.

I believe there's more. Oracle had specific clauses in the licence terms to prevent usage of JVM on mobile. In other words, Google actually releasing Android under GPL is not enough for the case to be finished off.

What you are questioning then is not that whether APIs should be copyrightable or not, but rather whether Oracle solely should have a copyright over the Java APIs.

Hmm. Then _every_ browser should do that. That will force website development to change over the time to a WYSIWYM approach to handling screen resolutions.

Oh my! Your story is a very significant overlap with mine! I started programming at an age of 11 years, when I did not even know the meaning of sin and cos. The spinning 3D ring I had created was slow like yours, speeded up by caching sin

The analogy is not valid. The marketplace at Amazon makes it a (large scale) mall, or a food court for your analogy, not the shop that is selling. If the food from a restaurant at a mall comes out bad, would you blame the restaurant, or th
