No one asked me to leave, and there was certainly no "we" involved. At the time you were dox'ing me, I was busy (getting ready to take a trip to SE Asia IIRC), and mostly absent. When I saw what was going on in my logs, I left of my own cho

Rich-kid sociopath slimeball is trying purposely to disrupt a burgeoning digital currency. Nothing to see here, move along, etc.

This is precisely why us Emacs users have been advocating org-mode for years. It can make generating tables, creating outlines, headers, emphasis, etc. all automatic and easy, (Most editors don't have support for markdown that makes this au

How are tablets going to replace conventional computing when they don't have keyboards and we don't have a superior replacement for the keyboard as yet? I'm genuinely curious, I type at 1/10th my normal rate on my iPad, I can't fathom worki

This is how a programmer I deeply respect described her more aggressive years. (Piss and vinegar) She attributed the same notion to a young programmer I hope will be able to make an impact on other coders. Sounds like it might (piss and vin

I don't think you've actually tried to write re-entrant or evented code in C before without help from libev . There's a reason* my day job is Python.

hnofficehours.com I worked on this webapp with ez, guz, and others. The idea is that people with knowledge/expertise in a subject can "hold office hours" with (strangers?) people looking for advice.

I had the same experience. It's unlikely I'll take one of their HR people seriously ever again. A Google engineer or PM would have to speak with me directly for me to bother.

Looks like my problem was a long-standing but hard to reproduce issue. I lost the repro, but vagrant started working thanks to Mitchell's help.

Last time I tried it, it didn't work. Wasn't really in the mood to filter through many false positives on Google, so I dropped it. The "UX" of Vagrant fails when it doesn't work on a rather vanilla debian workstation.

I feel similarly about vim. Not my cup of tea (I'm an emacs nut), but the dedicated can churn through text like a banshee's screech through courage. That said, I don't really work on projects or write code that necessitates being a human m4

I'm not a fan of Perl, and I have in fact a great deal more experience with JavaScript, but I don't see a command-line runtime and interface being sufficient to make it prevent Perl from taking over its niche.

I don't use IRC for specific people, if specific people want to speak with me, they can be-bop into mumble, call my phone, IM me, visit me, email me...I'm just explaining why the rationale specific to IRC doesn't make much sense.
