The authenticity part is straight forward: if token was minted from contract X then it is the real deal. This can be an issue for brand new projects. Bad actors will duplicate it and list at low prices. Most users are savvy enough to only u

I had this exact same experience at a previous startup. It was really frustrating to me, it was so easy for new devs joining the team to criticize past work. It was especially difficult for me because I'm not a natural leader and I ten

I did make some assumptions, lets lay out the the possible scenarios: 1. NFT points to Steam owned URL 2. NFT points to some decentralized storage (IPFS/Arweave) 3. NFT data stored on-chain And the skin data itself has these options: 1

I think the decentralization only matters in edge cases, I'm guessing 99% of users won't care. But for people who are spending a ton of money on skins, they should care that it is decentralized. If I was the guy who spent $60k on

This feels kinda pointless, but I wasn't trying to say that the package "web3" existing means the concept of "web3" exists. It would have been better for me to post npm download trends, see here: https://

This argument is categorically false, illicit activity accounts for 0.34% of all crypto activity in 2021: https://go.chainalysis.com/rs/503-FAP-074/images/Chainalysis...

The bank I use is PNC, looks like it is currently the 7th largest bank in the US. To be fair, in the past month they opened a new branch which is a 10 minute drive, so that makes the first part a lot better. I am also lucky enough to live

I'm not OP but I had to wire money earlier this year when I bought a house. To accomplish this, I had to drive to my nearest bank branch (1 hour drive), talk to a bank teller for 15 minutes while she filled out forms and printed out pa

Ah I gotcha, yea that is mostly true at the moment. I'm pretty sure the only way to go directly from fiat to L2 is through Binance which can transfer to Arbitrum (someone correct me if I'm wrong). All the major centralized exchang

Not sure what you mean about layer 2 solutions being similar in cost to layer 1 transactions. See here: https://l2fees.info . Arbitrum and Optimism are both running in "safe mode" so their tx cost will continue to go do

Yes I realize that could be an issue, but it's way easier to address than keeping a server alive. See: https://archive.org/details/softwarelibrary_flash_games

I think it's safe to assume that you would only get the check mark if your NFT is minted from the original contract. This is an issue for brand new collections (and you see this happen on OpenSea where people fork new a new popular col

I don't understand OPs point, but the meaningful difference is that the digital ledger is decentralized. If Blizzard shuts down D3, your virtual goods are gone forever. NFTs and ownership of NFTs live as long as the blockchain lives

It's all over-collateralized loans. So if I want $50k cash to buy a car, I can deposit $100k of ETH to borrow $50k USDC. As ETH price changes, your loan has a "health" score and if it gets below a certain threshold you can ge

This is true for many NFTs but not all. For example, cryptopunks, autoglyphs, meebits only exist on-chain. Then there are NFTs like artblocks.io where the code to generate your NFT is on-chain and the output is determined by the transaction
