We offer a drag-and-drop UX, where edits made are written back to the text: https://terrastruct.com (it's not Mermaid, but a similar text-to-diagram language)

You can compare at https://text-to-diagram.com (disclaimer: i made it, but it's all open-source, the maintainers of mermaid have contributed to it).

we made the change to Linear, but ultimately, made the change back to GitHub Issues. Their marketing and devrel is good -- it convinced me without actually considering its merits, that surely everyone must be buying into it for a reason. Ul

Hah, typically this line goes, "once Google/big tech does this, you're in trouble". The reality is like that xkcd meme of some random dev in midwest US supporting critical infra with their open source efforts. GitHub nat

Thanks for the reply. > If you don't mind sharing, what's that project about? I maintain another text-to-diagram language, and we host a playground ( https://play.d2lang.com ). I want to let people make collaborative

Really cool, thanks for sharing! Would you have chosen Etherpad if you had to do it again? (I'm thinking of adding text collaboration to an open-source project I maintain). Did you get requests to support non-Etherpad servers?

Why are they having the funeral less than 2 weeks after a "suspension" of the API, after 10+ years of work? Twitter under the new management is making rash decisions but also has been reversing many. I still have Tweetbot app on m

oh i actually did play it a few years back when I launched Terrastruct (company behind D2). It was just a solo-effort bare bones project at the time, but I reached out to a hunter and all that. Got 112 upvotes ( https://www.produc

ProductHunt is very gamified. You have to jump through their hoops to do well, reach out to "hunters" (these guys will put this badge on their twitter/linkedin) to post for you to get the boost from their following, schedule

Yes, the SQL generator is limited. It's like 20 lines long and not the point of the article, which is to demonstrate the API. If you want to compare Mermaid against D2, take a look at https://text-to-diagram.com . The mainta

After years of Flow, Typescript, Webpack, React, JSX, etc, I went back to just vanilla HTML, CSS, JS for my most recent production project ( https://play.d2lang.com , which is open source). The experience was great. I didn't

This is a problem with the languages, not a fundamental flaw. Well designed GUI can beat poorly designed language, but manipulating text has a much higher ceiling than drag and drop, in terms of speed and comfort/familiarity. Every pro

There's an important distinction between 2 categories in architecture diagrams: 1. Free-form. You have an image of what it should look like. It's precise. An algorithm won't be able to get it right. 2. Structured. You just wa
