Do you think in the year 2100 we'll still write Python and C? From that point of view, sounds like we should be happy with the status quo and not create anything more. Imagine if that was the case in 1991 when I'm sure someone els

Great comments everyone! Really nice hearing from all these devs experienced with writing crash free apps that never crash with inscrutable tracebacks which after days of investigation turn out to be caused by a DisplayLink driver. It’s ref

An EDID override like this would be helpful for macOS as well, where the monitors swapping around after standby is a real annoyance [0] [1] EDID rewrites are 99% of the time blocked by the monitor firmware: https://notes.alinpana

Some people like the process of writing code, more than the end result. I had a few months of that feeling, but nowadays it’s rarely about writing for me. Just the other day I used Copilot to explain the disassembly of macOS KeyboardBacklig

If it's there, it's not hidden, it's a style choice. That's a web page I fully control, not a contract where I am forced to write things I don't want to, but I work around them by making them small. Cut the snark, i

What’s with all these empty comments? I understand that git submodules is not so well known, but doesn’t your curiosity kick in when you see Apple releasing a bunch of empty folders? Don’t you want to spend 1 minute to understand why? Do yo

I see everyone keeps reminding me of Emmet. I know about it, but it does not exist on a phone or iPad where I sometimes need to do small changes while on the go. I frequently travel for days without my laptop, and need to maybe add an FAQ e

I think I confused the translation here. I'm Romanian where the {curly brackets} are called "acolade". I read the word "accolade" in English a few times and wrongly assumed it means the same thing as in Romanian.

I tried touching on that in this paragraph: One could say I could have spent all that time on writing vanilla HTML, CSS and JS and I would have had the same result in the same amount of time. I agree, if time would be all that mattere

Author here! When CoffeeScript 2 got released about 6 years ago, me and a few others went all into it, because huge effort went into supporting ES6 features in the compiler. Still, TypeScript appeared 1 year after and took over everything.
