Ok, so glad to hear that from you directly! Thank you for all the value you’ve put out there for free! About the codebase part, I don’t have any need for it so I’m not affected by this, but I wonder if it was possible to keep the current st

Damn, I use Sourcegraph so much for my reverse engineering efforts on macOS. They index all those private framework symbols that people extract on every macOS release, and allow searching for headers and even how they are called by other de

This is great! Just yesterday I was looking for a way to get a daylight 5500k white balance on videos the same way I do in Halide but it seems there’s no way to do that in the built in camera app. I know you can “lock white balance” but it

Love this thing! It enabled me to add a “Convert to GIF” for videos in my Clop app ( https://lowtechguys.com/clop ) in just a few lines of code. The GIF gets encoded at its optimal size by default so I didn’t have to do a sec

Author here! Don't worry, I'm well aware that what I can create currently can't be sold :) what I can currently do is like an MVP in wood, I cut a lot of corners (literally) just to see the thing done, and live with the defec

I don't have a solution for the windows/dock/menubar not behaving correctly (which is why I've only been using my MacBook 14inch screen after my monitor died a year ago). But my Lunar app ( https://lunar.fyi&#x

For sure, it’s just a bit more effort to reverse the app binary and find that part of the code. Enough effort to deter most crackers apparently.

Yes, I was referring to the fact that I do a manual code sign check in my own code. Otherwise, Gatekeeper will be happy to run any cracker-signed app, they even found ways to staple forged notarization tickets. Manual code sign checks can o

It’s done in a similar way on macOS: a dylib is added to the bundle and an LC_LOAD command is added to the app binary. The dylib is the first thing that runs because of using the constructor attribute, like this: https://notes.al

In theory, yes Lunar should be able to do that, both on Mac and Hackintosh. But it depends on the hardware if it allows it, some hubs/GPUs/monitors might block the DDC command. Anyway Lunar has a free offering, you can try it easi

Author here, all monitor vendors are guilty of the same serial problem. It’s not present on all models, and most have transitioned to writing the Alphanumeric Serial Number in the last 2 years, which is thankfully unique. The firmware crash

Yes, but most monitors disable writes to them. Some monitors have service menus that can enable that but it’s increasingly rare to see that. I thought about simply writing a random serial number to one of the monitors as the solution, sadly

Lunar dev here, thank you so much for this! As the dev, I see the app as very fragile because of the dozens of emails per week I get, each describing a different very specific issue. It’s good to hear the app is actually stable and useful f

Looks like I’m doing something similar without being aware of it. My latest free macOS app IsThereNet [1] is really just a swift file bundled as an app. But it got a lot more press than I expected and brought enough users for my Clop app [2

Bonkers it is yet it’s true. The house prices are a joke right now here. I don’t know what drives such prices, 95% of Romanians will never be able to afford a €200k house with 50sqm of paved courtyard in front. Supply and demand my ass… Bel

Mostly, more work put into implementing features requested by users and fixing bugs reported by them, that’s what got me the most money. Some might say that spending more time on marketing is what gets more money, and that’s a bit true. But
