I've been testing Stage Manager since the first developer beta of Ventura and it did feel awkward, as it had no keyboard control, and I feel slower when pointing and clicking to switch apps. But after adding support for it in my rcmd a

Thanks! While this feature isn't really in the scope of Lunar, it can be achieved with a more automation generic app like Hammerspoon ( https://www.hammerspoon.org/ ) I created a simple script here that does just that:

You might not be familiar with the App Store restriction on in-app links/buttons to external payment methods. An app on the App Store must only provide subscriptions through Apple's own means which gives them a 30% cut of every su

Native support for buying PWAs (or at least in-app purchases) would probably be a game changer yes. It sounds possible in theory: Apple gets to keep their 30% cut while allowing devs to sell even more apps. But they would have no way of scr

As a macOS app developer with 5 years of experience, I agree with the "compatibility" and "absurd App Store requirements" arguments. But I still build apps instead of websites, because: 1. I can create experiences

There are free tools that can do that on Windows and Linux. For example on Windows you can dump and write EDID using https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-EDID-DisplayID-Wri... And you can edit it using https:

It is up to the OS, you understood correctly. But the EDID spec tells that you can only rely on the standard EDID fields to be present. Someone implementing the spec would be right to do what Apple engineers did in their UUID logic. All the

I never used that key for anything. I think I got this reflex from Windows where there was only one WinKey on the left, but a lot of people have the same experience as me even without using Windows before. Even so, the trigger key is config

The Alphanumeric Serial Number is not a standard EDID field, but a custom extension of it. MacOS definitely has a way to distinguish between monitors here, and in other cases too, but they would still have to go through every edge case and

I’m sure there must be a retry with a backoff somewhere. But most of the times I noticed that the EDID is incomplete, not blank. I don’t think there’s any way for the OS to know that there’s a more complete EDID if it tries again later. Tha

On Apple Silicon Macs you can see the computed EDID UUID through the I/O registry: ioreg -r -c AppleCLCD2 | egrep 'ProductAttributes|EDID UUID' I couldn’t see the EDID UUID on Intel Macs, but you could at least dump

Looks like you’re out of the loop on this. No OS has the ability to control the real brightness of the monitor out of the box. At best it could dim the brightness through a software overlay, but neither Windows nor Linux implement DDC/
