> And the way to address this problem is to put all of your sensitive stuff into one third party whom we trust more, for purposes of our conversation we can just call them "the monopolist". You're missing the point. Giving out your pass

Getting a "PASS" is not good enough when it comes to security.

Because the government should not be partial, and treat everyone the same, (barring laws being broken)? AFAIK, it's not (yet) illegal to be disliked by the government.

Adding too many feeds to my reader. A site like HN is tolerable, since I won't even notice if I've been away for a couple of days, but the unread count on my reader...

>And given that's my motivation, I'm pretty careful about how I engage people. I don't shame people, I don't push them. I honestly don't give a shit what they decide. I just like having the options all out there. A very important point.

That's an interesting thought, but it'd be sad if they actually think that way. Actual success counts less than imagined one, because you can't inflate the numbers as much?

I find the argument of language favoring base-12 very weak. If a groundbreaking change like replacing base-10 with 12 (or anything else), language would also be able to evolve and adapt to it. Spanish has words up to fifteen, by the way.

So What? Does that make it obsolete? I guess indicating the year is important for older tech articles, but definitely irrelevant in this case.

Possible, but very unlikely. More education is good advice either way.

All that is just syntactic sugar. print "comma prevents a newline from being printed", print >> sys.stderr, "Any file object can be used" The change to a function is purely for consistency, not functionality.

And to make this problem worse, there's a great deal of variation among different dialects of the same language, which means that there's no 1:1 mapping of IPA phones to written letters.

Also, if you live alone (or have a diet incompatible with your housemates), try cooking for several days at once. Cooking and meal planning are skills you're guaranteed to be using for life, so put in the time to become at least moderately

Of course, but the point is that Blizzard is still interested in maintaining the game for the foreseeable future, whether or not battle.net is the chosen medium through which serious players compete.

Yes, StarCraft is still alive and kicking on battle.net. Hardly surprising considering that the game is still incredibly popular in Korea, with a pro scene and all.

The logistics involved are hard. Really really hard. These are not boxes that are stranded. They're people. And people move around, change their minds, make other plans, book themselves multiple times, etc.

Python is in the same boat, by the way. Core is writen in C, but there's a huge number of things to be done in the stdlib.
