You feel comfortable with git because someone put a lot of work into making its source code and ecosystem portable. https://github.com/search?q=repo%3Agit%2Fgit+WIN32+OR+mingw+... If no one had done that work, you'd ha

It should work. We should have portable executables across many operating systems and architectures. The other expectation is scary.

Kind of. It can be read as a single binary, some supported systems will do that. In others, the executable is first parsed as a shell script. There's definitely more to it than a single binary. MZqFpD=' ø @

Do we need a project, or a tool? Consider the tool the author mentioned, jQuery. It is on the text almost as a museum piece. The things jQuery did (compatibility, CSS selectors, fetch) became standards or stable almost a decade ago. We don&

It's not just about the source. Frameworks are leaky abstractions by design, they intentionally expose their internals. In Django, for example, you are supposed to know what kind of queries it generates. It is documented how queries ar

Did you mean _encapsulation_? React and Django are not black boxes. The source is all there, and their interfaces often reflect their internal workings. You know the insides but you are not meant to poke around.

You probably have the `printf` in your PATH. However, if you type `printf` on a bash script, a builtin will be used instead. Try a small benchmark to see the results of /usr/bin/printf vs printf. It really makes a difference
