And yet people -- hundreds of thousands of them -- do manage to get useful work done in Java on a daily basis! I do not want to be one of those people however because I do not like suffering.

Watching the animation it is interesting that Iran flipped from facebook being to dominant in June 2009 to Cloob being dominant in June 2010. Wonder if this was due to government action or something else? EDIT: Read the actual story. It say

Outside of the parent's bad attitude, he does have a good point. No timestamp on the article makes it hard for me to place the story in context. It is one of my pet peeves when I come across some morsel of information online but I can't eva

I wonder how this library deals with ambiguous times around daylight savings. For example on the day of switching from summertime to wintertime the clock goes from 2:59 am to 2:00 am again resulting in the hour being repeated. If you know t

Family maybe, but figuring out the real name from friends can get difficult. I know a guy who has been using an alias on facebook for the past 8 years or so. It is funny to watch when his alias creeps in to real life. Normal scenario, Bob m

Not to be snarky, but looking at the authors [1] gallery, some formal introduction to technique would have been great. [1] http://nateotto.com/section/329118_Canvas.html

I am currently taking a pastel class at 92nd Street Y [1]. It is a very friendly environment and open to beginners. The only downside is that a lot of the classes are only available during the work day. You may also consider art classes at

I agree. 'Other' category jumped from 0 to 29% as well. Likely at this point they started considering a wider range of devices or something like that.

The wall you are talking about is between investment banking (private side) and the rest of the bank (public). The two sides don't see each other on the internal IMs systems, if they try emailing each other, their emails get auto routed to

Might be better to have the keys rotated after a certain number of TFO cookies are generated rather than on a time-based schedule. This will prevent attackers from trying to make a huge number of requests in a set period of time.

Agreed. It seems odd that the countries author chose to highlight are not special for much of anything but their size. If you are going to go for small countries, might well talk about individual states, prefectures, counties, etc. I bet if

I own this book, it is not the right book for learning how to illustrate. Don't get me wrong, "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" is a decent book. If you follow it, in a few short drawing sessions it will lift you from a person who ca

From a user's point of view it doesn't matter if it is python or cython. Slow things get implemented carefully and are packed away in a 3rd party libraries. If the performance comes down to BLAS, then language speed benchmarks are moot. Say

Nice. Assuming that the computation of each node is memoized, can we 'dirty' a single node, so that during the next computation only the needed parts of the graph are recomputed? This would make multiple computation of models where only a f

The article doesn't really answer why the services cost so much. The higher fees aren't going to the margins of the telecoms. Verizon has a revenues of $39.14 per share and earnings of $2.31 per share for the past year.
