I never liked the idea of changing the content of a quote for any reason. Let's say I go on the record saying something like this: > Code reviews are worthless when it comes to those nasty little runtime corner cases that crop up

Agreed - as it is currently, if you: - disagree with Candidate A on issue 1, but agree on issues 2-10, and - agree with Candidate B on issue 1, but disagree on issues 2-10, you'll be matched with Candidate B purely because Candidate A

Indeed. The JS community flirted with the idea of a monolithic do-everything framework for a bit longer than I expected, but thank god the madness has passed.

Hiring manager here, and after many interviews with enterprise programmers, I do find myself putting more and more of them into the "no" pile right off the bat. The problem is that those candidates, in my experience, tend to throw

First time I've ever heard a 9-5 job called a "9-17" job. Decided to Google it to see how common it was, and all the results are for the Bible verse Job 9:17 - > He would crush me with a storm and multiply my wounds for no

No need to always be on the latest version. v4.2 is an LTS branch that will be supported for the next two and a half years. And with tools like nvm, it's incredibly easy to swap out different versions and go for a test drive.

Glad to see they've bumped up the V8 version so the spread operator can be used. Things are really moving along at a good clip since the merge with io.js.

I think a lot of HN commenters are being too quick to dismiss Amazon's objections - either because they have heard similar anecdotes from friends or because they distrust Mr. Carney. Amazon's core objections are that A) the NYT fl

Slightly off topic here but since everyone's chiming in about their experiences with bug trackers, I figure somebody might find it useful. I did a pretty intensive search involving trials of a couple dozen trackers about two years ago

I just switched to coderpad.io, and so far I really like it - it takes the place of a phone interview. I'm looking for JS engineers, so I've set up a series of stub functions representing problems - with corresponding tests for ea

Huge Sublime fan here, recently switched to Atom. With the new React-driven editor buffers, it feels much more native. Give it another spin! Properly configured, it's pretty much at parity with Sublime. Insane momentum behind it with n
