There are nice exceptions, nginx is the most prominent one in the open source space. Nonetheless, the SV dream is just a PR.

Good points. Will be great to summ-up all possible drawbacks and make a comparison table for all interesting incubators. What are other bad factors worth considering? ADD: the biggest drawback I can think of is requiring to have a co-founde

The OP doesn't really say how startups get hurt. I didn't went through any incubator but I'm planning to. From my point of view there are definitely bad incubators out there - the ones that get started by random people which the OP mentions

Incubators are just like street market. There are overcrowded spots where there is always something going on, and there are spots that no one visits. Be in the right spot and you get piece of action.

Good incubators won't let you to code with one focus. They will shift your attention sideways so that you might discover new opportunities and validate your vision. Often it leads to abandoning the original idea completely.

The domain has been registered 5 years back, so I don't have any hope to get it cheap. Besides, I'm still going through idea validation and as such don't want to spend any additional money on the project that might not fly or will change di

But do Google treat country level domains specifically, it gives them a boost when a local search is performed, but lows them in the global search context? http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/359704/google-approves-co-domain...

I'm building a commercial product, so .org isn't a good fit here. And .net to my understanding has been greatly abused and doesn't relate to anything specific at all. It might be not that bad for a hobby but in my case the product targets e

Exactly. It's the same as telling to a blind person about the shades of colours. Only in our case I'm blind too and simply dreaming up that what we touch isn't all there is.

I tend to think it's true. With the exception of when business means something bigger, ie when it actually has been defined by moral principles, like wikipedia, which more of a charity than business anyway.

As they say "in business there is no morality" ADD: sure it's unpleasant, so let's just downvote and stay happy.

If I start talking about traffic jams in big cities and do so for a long while without giving the whole picture, then everybody will think that's just how big cities operate.

God is something outside (and can be inside at the same moment) the Universe, meaning that it is something we cannot grasp. If we cannot grasp how God operates then whatever we look at is just an observation of a single event, however long

What I'm saying is evolution as we see it is part of a bigger picture, and the Universe can be part of something bigger. You trying to describe the elephant just looking at it's ear.

If it wasn't God who created the Universe than who did? It created itself somewhere? That's where any rational mind should stop shouldn't it? We perceive the things in some way, which doesn't mean it is the right way or the only way.

In the new Metro UI you cannot run traditional desktop apps - these that use Windows API - and there are loads of them around already. So keeping the old UI system in parallel is the only viable option to get Metro slowly adapted.

If this scheme takes up then domain names like mint.com which are currently make sense solely because they are short and easy, will have no way of sounding great for a financial webapp. Many websites will have to revise their names.
