By the way the "big thing" isn't the hardest part of this. The most important thing is probably the review of issue/pull request, and everybody who want to help can do that ;)

I don't really know it really depends on the number of a contributor! The goal isn't to have a huge blog with 20posts/day. The hard thing is to get a motivated team to get started to be sure the idea will last (there's no point if everybody

I think it'll always amaze that we haven't been able to do better tools than the goold old ones (Vim, Emac & Unix tools I'm looking at you).

It's more than a part, it's a huge part. It's really easy to use, and you can find everything in it!

How would you do that? ctrl-v for instance is really useful in Vim.

The karma may be important if you ask a question (I suppose it works like when you submit a link) : if you ask a question, and if you get lost because you have no "early" upvotes, the question will disappear in the depths of HN.

AUR is definitely one of the best thing for me, along with the rolling release scheme, the simplicity and the wiki. But you say you use it on your servers? I'm not sure I would do it because Arch doesn't focus on stablity like Debian does,

You can also use $CDPATH to jump easily between directories e.g. : Imagine you have this folder ~/dev/python/my_awesome_project If you set CDPATH to '.:~/dev/python', you can easily jump to your project just by doing cd my_awesome_project,

I agree with most of the article, except the yes/no part. In fact I think it's better to do : "Do you want to do this (Y/n)?" Where the most common option is uppercase so I can just hit enter.

Maybe that's because Vim and Emacs have a steep learning curve so it's hard to switch to another editor. Or it may just be because they do all what we can want from an editor (and even more).
