I appreciate your gracious response. It’s important that we discuss such matters openly and positively. You’re practical, as always, and I feel inspired to apply some of your suggestions in my own practice. There couldn’t be a better time t

My experience has been different than what is described here. I haven’t met that many developers who didn’t know why they were doing what they were doing. Instead I’ve met lots of managers who used the _why_ as if it was some magic wand tha

Dear people who are downvoting me: I’d appreciate if you shared some thoughts in the comments. Otherwise, you’re just being meaner than I was in my original comment.

I'm inclined to say that's a wrong interpretation. You don't have to sell anything to be required to be compliant with GDPR. My understanding is any entity (not necessarily a company, mind you) collecting personal or behavior

GDPR is about data, not companies. It applies to all entities regardless of where they are established as long as they're doing business in the EU or processing data of EU citizens.

This has been discussed before, see https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=27054629 Also why link to a video of a guy reading an article instead of linking the article directly? HN can read.

See, this is what I’m talking about: the idea that masses would think differently if they learned about and understood irrational beliefs, cognitive biases, statistics etc. is confirmation bias.

It’s nothing like that. I’m simply stating a sciency argument won’t work to the masses. As far as the “emotion-inducing anecdote” is concerned, I’m only telling that story to remind that mathematics does more harm where a hug is more app

I’ve seen some comments here saying this is one in a million. Here’s the thing: while that may be statistically true, it’s not an argument to convince people to take the shot. You can’t tell folks “hey, listen, there’s a very slight chance

The Cyberpunk 2077 FUBAR is not a tech problem as much as it’s a management problem. Tech can only compensate a bad employer this much.
