Trying hard not to downvote just because I disagree so strongly, I don't even know if it's possible to find some common ground for discussion. It sounds to me like these developers didn't read the app store guidelines. I'm getting really

That really depends on the average size of someone's network. How many networks are only composed of 2-3 endpoints? (most common example - talking to family "back home"). Compare to Facebook's 100+ average network size.

Semantics - I just don't see any point in calling Skype users "mundanes". They had the incentive to learn how to use the technology because of the cost savings, they'll have that incentive again in the future if it becomes necessary. I thi

Skype's network effect and lock-in is extremely small compared to something like Facebook, or even something like an IM network. Think about it: early adopters (techies) start using a free competitor (or several free competitors). They get

Judging by the number of "join this group to solve world peace" groups on Facebook, I think teens and 20-somethings vastly overestimate the real world consequences of their posts. Yes, they can be influential in specific cases, and maybe mo

Jon Favreau: http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1... I don't really see it myself, but I don't know much about Elon Musk. If I had to guess, I would've said Sir Richard Branson.

I don't really understand your point, can you elaborate? That's all that's being discussed here - native app vs. HTML5 (or some hybrid, which is perfectly valid under 3.3.1).

I think part of the problem is with that word, "voluntary" - and more specifically how it relates to another word, "desperate".

They're looking for people who are competent, but who are either naive, terrible at selling themselves to an employer, or vastly underestimating their ability to find a good paid position.

I see this discussed now and then, and I never really see the point. I don't care what a startup's chance to succeed is, I only care what MY startup's chance to succeed is. And since these estimates vary so widely even when they're comple

I've put that code in my app a while ago, don't think I ever got it to work... but I didn't spend much time on it. Right now I'm looking at a relatively new ad network, http://www.burstly.com/ , they also have some download tracking - jus

We use it as a very simple task tracker. We start a new wave every week, list what we're trying to do, and cross it off as we get it done. We do have a full Redmine install set up, but there are only two of us, so it tends to be overkill -

I stand (partially) corrected. This doesn't seem to be the main argument in all of the stories (see, for example, "freedom from porn"), but there has been a lot of noise in the discussion, so point taken.

I think you're over-analyzing. For me, the best summary of the debate comes from a ridiculous anti-piracy ad that used to play before movies in theaters here in Canada. The ad said "You wouldn't download a car, would you?" To which my reac

Because of the context, I parsed that as "if I were [Kickstarter] I'd shut down the pledge site now", and was having a hard time following your reasoning. Assuming you meant Diaspora, your point is a lot more reasonable.

If you're coding any version of your website, I would hope Flash wouldn't be your first choice. I think it's safe to generalize that most people (as in "end users") only care about Flash in the context of video and games.

Oops, voted up by mistake. I don't see how this is relevant to the article. It's a bit like reading an article about shady business practices by auto dealers and replying "I've had good results taking public transit."
