Whenever I try to use Firefox, I always tend to go back to Chrome after a week or so. I'm visually impaired and Firefox just messes up the accessibility on certain (news) websites for me. While on Chrome it's mostly working fine.

Besides that, I simply need my rest and sleep to relax and be able to perform again. I love working in a team, as a team. But work is still work for me. I don't really care about some paid company holiday weekend or something. I'd

I'm only using systemd as a user, but for me the overall experience is rather painless after some trial and error. Except the learning curve for more advanced usages is steep and documentation seems way too complete and complicated. Bu

Thanks for this. Although I have the most issues with sticky headers on mobile. Currently I mostly bail out of those websites.

Very clever, and very good. As a visually impaired user with larger fonts, websites can be impossible to use. In my experience you are even missing a sticky header which blocks at least 25% of the page. And perhaps a Clippy like assistant,

Great idea, thanks for this! The only thing I would change is the background color of the site. The high visibility jacket green does not contrast well with the white boxes and dark gray text. I also get a bit of afterimage, but that's

Thanks for this. I don't know anything about compilers, but I really enjoyed reading this. Besides the technical insights it provided, I also loved the positive attitude of this article. Two excerpts that stood out for me: > [...] i

If you are a footballer in Europe or South America, the World Cup doesn't have to be the biggest tournament. There are big names in football which haven't played in a World Cup at all [1]. If you want to earn the big bucks, you wi

I have Windows zoomed in at 125% and at my 1080p height screen some content boxes don't even fit my full view height. Thankfully the full report is direct linked here.

Although Imgur is not the old Imgur anymore, the suggested alternatives can have more of the same drawbacks. Discord - Good when you share things within a group, but is really hard to search and generally unavailable to outsiders. Twitter -

Yes, but that would be rather hard to do. You would end up in a semantic discussion of the term "conventional means"? Is that support through telegraph, mail, phone, e-mail or social media? And what determines a third party? The t

It's funny that you compare Facebook to a power company this way. Recently I wanted to contact a power company about a bad experience I had with them. Basically there were three support options. Phone, Facebook or Twitter. Phoning them

Thank you! As a visually impaired user, disabling zoom is just incredibly stupid, except for a few edge cases such as games. As per theories in this thread why this meta tag is so popular. I know a few UX designers who explicitly asked the

Reminds me of a few years ago, when I accidentally exposed my Domoticz install to the internet without authentication. I've had missed something in my Nginx config with X-Forwarded-For headers. After about a week or something apparentl

I am using Home Assistant for my home automation for about 4 years now, before just lurking. For me Home Assistant is about quantity, not quality. Look at the massive amount of Integrations, currently sitting at almost 2000 [1]. Which is re

Nice to see HA getting some love on HN. A colleague recommended it to me about 3 years ago as an alternative to Domoticz. I've migrated back than and haven't looked back since. I consider myself a real Home Assistant enthousiast.

Sure, but you will still have a sort of chain of trust with Google that that disable button will actually do anything. Except bothering you in the future with a new, fancy enable button to make certain apps work.

You can't be serious about this right? Except from being a black rectangle, the ~$100-ish Xiaomi device isn't comparable to a PinePhone. The Xiaomi phone is better and more attractive in any other way, except privacy.

This write up seems quite decent, but it just boils down to some basic stuff. Like putting a button near a new feature and choosing the right tool for selection. Which are both really valid points. The thing I really miss in this article is
