Not to dismiss the study - I agree that hypotheses require proofs - but, based on my personal experience coding *feels* much more like math, and almost not at all a spoken language, except for the fact that we give identifiable "names&

Why yes! This is how I got into software development in the first place! I wrote all kinds of silly programs. First ever "serious" piece of software I wrote was for my parents, to help them calculate their taxes. In Borland Pasc

Oh, wow. I am always somewhat worried about the uncontrolled costs when deploying my personal projects to any cloud. I would freak out if I saw an invoice like this. This is why I like rate limiting stuff, authenticating the users before us

Thank God they added a toggle and not an on-by-default fuzzy matching where "MARCHF1" would still yield "March 1st". What a pity if the genes had to be renamed again and again, playing hide-and-seek with Excel. I am not

Just early this week I spent some time (in fact, a bit too much time) on the "State of CSS 2023" [0], choosing the CSS framework for "my next hobby project". The usual thing: I don't know CSS well enough, but got bo

I don't think this is correct. The case was against Orange, which is a publicly traded company. I don't see how they could "invoice" it to their customers. Also, the service was rolled out ~14 years ago, I assume it was

All great advice. Avoiding the situations that require the "quick thinking" is not always possible, but this advice holds in a general case as well. More that anything else I agree with a) taking the time, and b) keeping an option

I like the idea very much! Using an LLM as a "sparring partner" for training in various areas. LLMs tend to hallucinate, so I find it harder to use them reliably in the context of decision making. Training however is a nice idea i
