I’m amazed no one has mentioned AI in this thread. The nice thing about LLMs is that, in a way, the framing of the question serves to “seed” the LLM with the context about who is asking. Ask something specific, and it will assume you alread

Not right wing but I honestly don’t mind a nice giant statue. The Prometheus one sounds pretty awesome actually.

I’m amazed you actually think that Apple’s mice don’t have any way to scroll. They have touch area where the scroll wheel would normally be, that works extremely well.

Feels like ruby would have been a good choice, given it’s also a dynamic scripting language and is more closely associated with SmallTalk than python. But we like what we like.

Well, it doesn’t say universal so it’s clearly going to be a specific set of human values and preferences. It’s obviously referring to the preferences of the humans who are footing the bill and who stand to profit from it. The extent to whi

“It’s not difficult to fix, just change the entire culture” The difficulty comes in trying to change the entire culture.

Fair point. For E2EE messaging apps, metadata often includes encrypted message content. As others have stated, the unencrypted metadata (eg. message recipient) can be potentially be damning enough on its own.

Why are people publishing their components when the UI problem is over and no one builds UIs anymore?

Who maintains that UI library? Or does the AI create it on the fly too? Why even bother with a library at that point? Just do a bespoke implementation.

Many of which were found to have been compromised with malware and have after having been installed millions of times. Extensions are an attack surface emdash I don’t see why it’s better to have more than anyone could possibly ever audit.

So you’re saying Apple legitimized some bad behavior, and now Google does it too, but we should only blame Apple, but Google does it too. You’re seriously blaming Apple for Google locking down Google pay on android?

Do you not see the irony in parroting a quote that is quite clearly an inaccurate representation of reality to argue in favor of LLMs?

Hurricane categories just mean that winds are above a certain threshold. For cat 5 I think it’s 157mph, and that means if the hurricane has winds of eg 170mph it’s still a category 5. Another problem with this system is that some category 2

Your original point would have had a bigger impact if you hadn’t married it to an idiosyncratic affection for XML. Now you’re stuck defending the usefulness of that particular technology which is entirely unrelated to AI.

I’m amazed not a single comment here has mentioned tvOS. Even TFA barely mentions it. My Apple TV device acts as my smarthome/home app hub, and tvOS already supports multiple users.

It seems unlikely that there is not a single other country with “cripplingly expensive healthcare” besides the USA. I’m also of the opinion that there are more than 6 countries total.
