I gotta disagree with thesuperbigfrog in some aspects. In the corporate world, Java is still very much alive. Not just on legacy software, but there is a lot of new software being developed in Java. Specially with the advent of the cloud na

As @d--b mentioned, look for alternatives. I use Gitlab free tier (I can even use the CI/CD as I have a Linode small VPS box - US$5/month with their runner installed - no minutes from their end needed). Rocket.Chat used to be a ve

I'm mostly doing that. Django + Unpoly + Postgres Development as fast as it can be. :D https://alexandremjacques.com/django-plus-unpoly/

I'd learn how to model the thing and 3D print it (if it's solid). Not that expensive.

If you don't want to learn JS but want to build something that feels like an SPA, you could try something like https://htmx.org or https://unpoly.com . If learning JS is your goal, maybe Svelte as tamimio mention

The question is: what is "better". Better for your workflow is not necessarily true in another context. I agree with some of your points. But, IMHO, user stories are not the best tool to describe a feature. Even Linear don't

>> Is the Django equivalent of Hotwired.dev as polished? Whats the Django story around mobile apps? No. Even Hotwire is not equivalent to Rails. You could even use Hotwire WITH Django. Take a look at https://htmx.org and&#

Answer: boring tech. These days I'm going with Django and Unpoly. Some go with htmx and AlpineJS. In both cases, frontend is backend agnostic. These JS are 1-file dependencies. Django is being actively mantained for 17 years now.

Have you looked at https://unpoly.com or https://htmx.org ? Or even https://hotwired.dev ?

IMO, as a huge amount of information of user behaviour (scrolling time, post viewing time, clicks etc.) is collected from the frontend apps, losing that kind of visibility is a no-no for them.

Probably, the tool you're using for VCS already does that. Both Github and Gitlab supports merge/pull-requests and comments. Doesn't these tools achieve what you're trying to accompish?
