Why not just reusing an existing modulation? There are dozens out there, from fast ones to super robust ones like JT65 (ridiculous baudrate, but you can basically decode it even when the sounds can't be heard any more)

Did anyone notice that somebody was filming him from the back with a smartphone (visible ~2:13 to 2:34)?

I tried Iodine around 3 years ago on a Swiss flight, it worked to read my mails over SSH using Alpine, but was so slow that basically it was unusable. Not sure what was going on, I had the impression that DNS queries were getting throttled

Looks like the dev's computer got compromised, maybe by someone looking for bitcoin wallets. See here: https://github.com/lawl/NoiseTorch/issues/254

The scans are actually not too bad... it's the original material that has been scanned that looks like multiply-photocopied pages... analog generation loss.

Yes, but inside a VM. What access to real hardware (e.g. to communicate with the outside world) does the user get?

Not sure I understand the point of this... did the HTTP query string just got reinvented, or is there something more subtle?

Around 8 I was copying the example programs from the GW-BASIC manual (especially the ones that involved graphics) on an MS-DOS 3.1 computer, then I was randomly modifying them to see what would happen... not exactly sure how I ended up lear

Thanks for sharing these links! I also learned Delphi in the late '90s as a teenager, and still find Lazarus to be very useful to rapidly develop simple applications that have a GUI!

I know Osmocom projects since probably 10 years, and am an amateur radio operator since almost 20 years, but I just discover now that Osmocom is sponsored by DARC (German amateur radio club)... thanks for posting this!

Not sure if you are looking to single-file backups or an actual backup solution that includes good encryption. I have very good experience with restic ( https://restic.net/ ), which encrypts all backups and does deduplication

This kind of things will never get FCC approval ;-) I would be curious to see the spectrum around the transmitter on a spectrum analyzer :-)

Does anybody know an open source platform doing the same in C++ with the same simplicity? I mean an IDE to edit the interface and code. I used both Qt and wxWidgets, but am not very happy with any of them. Qt can do almost everything, but i

Those days I'm using libcurl with the bindings that are supplied with Lazarus/FPC... works perfectly fine (tested on Windows and Linux, I suppose MacOS will work too... on Windows you need to install the DLL, e.g. libcurl-x64.dll)

Thanks for sharing this! The idea seems very nice, but why should this be hosted on a third-party server? I want to keep my data for myself... the title is misleading, this is not a software but a service!

Nice, is there any "official" way to deploy this without Docker involved? The GitHub repo only seems to include scripts to deploy a Docker container, but not the contents of the container itself, are they on another repo?
