If new people don't use it, both its user base and developer list will monotonically decrease until both reach zero which may happen sooner than it could've been otherwise.

On August 11th, 2020 the Russian government announced the world's first release of a vaccine against COVID-19, referring to the vaccine as "Sputnik 5" (Gam-COVID-Vac) to reflect Russia's previous victories in the Space R

Are you for serious now? Ok, try to log in to app.sketchup.com and play around with it. For instance, try holding the mouse wheel button and move the mouse around while doing it, to pan.

A win for GCC - for sure. Not sure why that would be a 'huge win' for Rust at all.

What does TikTok have to do with it? It focused on a specific niche in a specific age group in a single country, which led to it expanding exponentially to 100M users in half a year there. Growing after that is a completely different story

But then again, Apple wasn't a startup at that point. A corporation with millions of customers and a huge fanbase who would buy anything it would produce without even questioning isn't exactly on the same line as a 0-customer star

A good example of something similar that's actually very useful is Numba which is a Python-to-LLVM JIT compiler; extremely useful for writing fast numeric algorithms without leaving Python-land, sort of.

I used to maintain Solace MUD in early 00s, what a time. Still have the source code for it, I think, and the forum is still somewhat active despite the fact that the server's been down for a long time now.

To put it very simply, it sort of provides a way to make everything 'static, except for it's actually arena's lifetime, 'a. So you no longer care who outlives who because all the objects will die together when the arena

? Nim is compiled into C, IIRC, but it uses Nim syntax and rules and you don't call it "C". Same way, Python's Numba is compiled into LLVM IR at runtime, and you basically write Python, with a few limitations. You don&#x

? With both Rust and Python you have "access" to C FFI. (Not the C++ out of the box but there's some projects out there that make it work)

It's neat but (a) it's not a reproducive example as it mostly about the stack and not the computations, (b) you would probably just use Numba for any serious one-liner speeding up in Python (at least for scientific-like computatio

For algorithmic/numerical code, especially if you have to deal with numpy-related data, Numba has a much easier barrier for entry, plus you remain with cpython while speeding up computation-intensive code by a few orders of magnitude.

Looks pretty awesome. Minor nit: hitting backspace to delete a clip (pretty common in editing apps) forces the browser to go back. You might also want to catch other types 'leave page' events and ask for confirmation so that the u
