I think this may be true. If you're good at pattern recognition, you may end up better at realist predicting - but also depressed in the process..

in the wild I would be alert I am when I hike alone. Not super alert - since there are few dangerous animals in my country - but alert still. Also, you are very alert when you walk in bad neighbourhoods.

I have JS disabled by default. The page appears blank, I bounce off. Please have at least some text on your site, an about link or whatever. Something.

Oh! Now that's an actionable tip. I fail to see the relation between your first measure (which seems to act as a guard?) and the second. Also their sizes don't match. Though I'm afraid I'll encumber this thread with my n

I hear you but to me, the beacon would better allow for effortless long-lived conversations. Whereas mail alerts demand more work : a filter/folder lest hnreplies will drown among unrelated mails + switching to browser on link. Reddit

Thx but email is overkill I think. Much more efficient would be a small `unread replies` beacon in top bar.

Thank you. It doesn't err.. look super straightforward. I was hoping for an automated way of some sort. This stack affair of `local arrays are super fast! but keep it small, 1024 should be okay` is very puzzling to aspiring C lovers li

I would greatly enjoy a comment-reply alert. Having to check my profile again and again to manually detect replies is not super efficient. Often I discover replies too late to engage an already gone replier.

I know. But one layer below, there's still a chain linking back to the origin ISP. The DNS operator can ask his own ISP about it. (Also, to people down-voting a genuine question ? wth..)

Thanks. > but once you get customers that can bring their own IPs (...) You know these IPs though, since you route to your customer. So you could drop the offending packets. (I may be getting over my head here).

I fail to understand how DNS reflection attacks are possible. Isn't it in the interest of any ISP to block outgoing spoofed IP packets ? So as not to be accused of letting those attacks originate from them ?

Same feeling and concern. And the politization results in many replys or whole subthreads getting greyed out into oblivion. That shading reflects the virulence of posters. It looks bad.

Exact. In Millau (Aveyron), I've heard about le "vent des fous". And I can attest that on Sundays, when the city is silent, that howling wind and the loose shutters banging make you feel strange indeed.

Oh me too. Despite addons being less dangerous nowadays (no FS access), a supply-chain attack on UBO would be massively bad. That's a reason why I strictly install very few addons.

The story of e-gold, how novative it was, and how it collided with the golden age of e-crime and carding truly is fascinating. BTW could someone of you recommend me the best books about that era of internet crime around 2005-2012 (or larger

It's certainly a big reason why we're so adept at counting but don't you think speech plays a big role too (and could be sufficient) ? I mean numbers are fingers but they're also a kind of song "one two three.."
