It seems to be smartly batched with other network fetches. I did some tests using a local notification to let me know when it occurred, and it happened most often when sending an app into the background or finishing up another network task.

I've got a few apps built using this API, so I can chime in. It is definitely based on usage patterns--the more you use a particular app, the more often it will refresh. It's also certainly based on battery life at the time, but a

A shameless plug, but my app is brand new, free, and shows comments legibly. But the #1 feature: background refresh. It uses new APIs in iOS 7 to preload the front page before you open it. Pivit - https://itunes.apple.com/

Mine is free, and freshly rebuilt for iOS using Text Kit and background refresh. It's free and no in-apps: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pivit/id705715915

I'm attempting to solve this, at least for iOS devices. My technique is to collapse everything first. If you want to continue in that discussion, you tap to expand. I think it helps mitigate the need to comment on the top thread, and s

This is discussed at length in the article. It was found that having an expiration lets people worry less about getting the photo "right". Also, it's not about having another place to waste time living vicariously. Quite the

No, it's just conjecture, assuming some things. Have you ever taken a road trip? Was the cost of gas between fill-ups more than you were paid per day for your first job? Assuming you're not driving a Mercedes, is your monthly car

This makes perfect sense, and if I had money to invest in this market, I would. Self-driving cars coupled with such an infrastructure means a very profitable business in the not-too-distant future. The highest cost for taxis is not the cars
