Most of what you are saying sounds true to me, but not this: “no condos for sale, at any price.” There are units in my building on the market right now (for well under a million bucks).

This article repeatedly expresses concerns that “blacks” may be pushed out of the City. This struck me as kind of odd. Why the repeated mention of just blacks? Is that a racist statement? If not, would it be racist to otherwise imply that b

"most browsers"? No. I can only think of Firefox. Certainly not Safari or Chrome. I don’t think Opera or IE do, either. And this is a Chrome extension. Edit: Sure, though, add-on (which needs the hyphen) is far from the worst thing here :

You know, I took a quick peek at your comments on HN just now, and they are all comprehensible and generally well-formed. This one is no exception. I would suggest putting yourself in a reader’s shoes. What do they know? What should they? W

"Show HN: Start to ambitious #1, addon to Google faster" is a nonsense title. "Start to ambitious" does not parse as English and adding "#1" does not help; "addon" is also not a verb, and if we substitute "add on", the phrase "add on to Goo

This isn’t a permalink, and it took me forever to find one (neither title nor date are permalinks? conventions mean nothing?) Submission URL should be changed to: http://inoveryourhead.net/20-things-i-should-have-known-at-2...

Some of your points are quite valid, but I must disagree progressive enhancement & unobtrusive JS are “dead” or should be. > - you can make significantly better UX without them This is the biggest place where you’re wrong, as the

rel="internal" raised my eyebrows. Yes, it makes sense. But the `rel` attribute is not to be used lightly and values are not to be invented on a whim, because eventually the value can be defined for all sites, not just yours. With

Note that among semi-technical users IE8-and-down usage is less than 3% of visits, and can only be expected to go down. LastPass is almost certainly going to have 1% or fewer visitors using IE8. It would be absolutely reasonable if their si

These are terrifically hard to make, and I applaud anyone who take the time and effort. But, a problem: Tapping Bold with no text highlighted (the expectation is that whatever you type next is bold) not only doesn’t work, but steals focus a

Agreed so hard. (Edit to add: By this I mean I agree strongly. I find this an amusing phrase, but imagine it might be confusing in writing.) It’s difficult not to be cynical about this. Yes, there are challenges that would need solved to

That is, strictly speaking, not true. Trivially so, since you said “no interest.” If they had none at all, why would they go so far as to actively support non-Apple services? Relatedly, their aggressive support of the Web as a platform is b

Why would Safari (which, although not perfect, is in fact available on Windows) + pure open source Chromium (Chrome without Google stuff) not be enough of an alternative?

I have had some encoding issues with Dropbox public files — namely, I’ll create a UTF-8 .html file and use special characters like “educated quotes” without encoding them as HTML entities (as I should be allowed to do, in a properly encoded

I don’t follow your (or your parent post’s) line of thinking. Apparently “dépêche means dispatch (or update, message or news),” and has a connotation of “fast.” I don’t see how this really applies to Drapache, which I thought of as “dr’apac

That’s not even true — RockMelt is WebKit-based. And obviously, it’s not the browser engine that is relevant, but rather the Facebook integration…

Almost more interesting than the omission of a browser from a vehemently self-declared rival is the omission of Flock & RockMelt, in my opinion. (They are, of course, browsers with “built-in social” & Facebook integration.)
