> How are restaurant tips charged? The card is run, and then you add a tip That sounds bizarre and backwards to me! I guess we live in different countries/regions with different conventions. So it probably depends on what people do

I had every one of those concerns too. In spades. And then I actually tried using it for real, and none of the concerns turned out to cause any problem in practice. (Why would I try using something I was confident would make me less product

I've been using this in IntelliJ IDEA for about a month. The experience reminds me of adopting an anti-aliased font for coding, for the first time (many years ago). First half an hour of unfamiliarity and skepticism, then it just seems

Summary of this utterly incoherent article: airlines are terrible because <insert some random claims about economic history>, and we can fix them by <insert some randomly chosen regulations we could invent>.

The LIBOR rates were constructed by the BBA phoning around the banks, and reporting an average of the numbers they came up with. How would the BoE "explicitly" change that? By telling the BBA to lie? I don't imagine you'

As far as I have been able to tell from the behaviour of those who believe this kind of thing, the correct authority to consult to determine ethical tax liability is the sub-editor in charge of writing headlines for whichever newspaper one

$4.2 billion in sales, subject to 15% GST, suggests $630 million in tax revenue to the NZ government. Not a bad tax take from an operation that runs out of another country.

Because it just ain't true? Age discrimination exists, but it's not really the reason there are so few 55 year olds in software today. That's simply because very very few people in the 1980s took up a career in software. The

Yes, the fundamental reason is conservation of energy. If there is not enough energy stored in the rocket's fuel to escape the gravity well, it doesn't matter whether you expend it all at once (and fail to reach escape velocity)
