Better than RAIDZ1, which is what you suggested, in the sense it's more reliable. I didn't say anything about not using ZFS.

si_LK is close to your requirements, but uses the comma for thousands. I don't think any locale uses underscore. number: 12,345.67 date: 2025-10-14 09:45:17 paper: A4 (210×297) https://lh.2xlibre.net/locale/si_L

The command line can be read by any user on the host (with `ps auxww` for example) while the environment cannot. You should never pass secrets on the command line.

It's bad but 1000+ nit displays under indirect light on sunny days seems competive with ratios around 4:1.

Transflective LCD is bad but e-ink has terrible contrast compared to normal LCD displays. Like 4:1 vs 1000:1.

These batteries last a few minutes when they are fully charged. In the winter it's not unusual to have close to zero wind power for a few days and it could come after a few weeks of lower output, so they aren't fully charged. You&

The Lora radios also have a longer-range 325 bits/slower mode called LR-FHSS which does frequency hopping and has 10-60 dB better sensitivity. Though only the sending part is implemented in the low power chips.

Homebrew is used by millions of devs, generally because the advantages are worth it. You can't use pacman, apt or pkgsrc on image based distros. And nix is a big headache. Of course anything that can easily run in a container is better

It's also not that simple for an individual. If you own more than 10% of the corporation you get hit with CFC rules, a base 37% tax on gains. Or PFIC rules if it's passive.

The fees are capped at 0.3% in EU and most countries have their own systems that are more popular. The reason the credit card monopolies exist is they work globally.

In practice the fridge is the only common thing. Most stuff in a house is quiet or, like fans or furnaces, make simple sounds that are easy to ignore.

It's tolerance. I've bought several of the quietest fridges and they all bother me. Old fridges sound nicer but newer ones are actually quieter.

I used one for a couple years as my primary fridge. It was expensive, like $2k, didn't have very good temperature control and broke after 2 years and couldn't be repaired.
