Why are they bound to GPLv2? It was my understanding that original authors had the ability to relicense as GPLv3.

How is this in any way a new approach to journalism? It is a network of editorial / expert writers. Online and offline publications have been doing this for over a century.

Hell yes. It will be really great to experience some consistency around aws api calls with a single cli experience. I love the boto project, but both the class structure and sporadic cli tools in the project take inputs in a non-uniform way

Well, I can vouch that it's pretty awesome. But I'm on the saltstack team, so I'm a bit biased. However, I can say that we get a daily stream of new users over in #salt on IRC and many of them find it preferable to Puppet and Chef.

That's really too bad. We've been pulling elasticsearch's .deb files from the downloads page on their github repository. Not everything is conveniently installed from source.

Direct uploading like this has not been possible through XHR as CORS support was only added this past year. However, you could mitigate it by handling the CORS headers through a proxy, using flash, or a couple other methods. You could, howe

I am also a CTO for a small startup in Seattle. We now have an engineering team of 4 and I find myself oscillating between playing these roles. At this stage, I have to make sure I don't ignore either position. If I ignore coding, I begin t

This is hard even when you aren't dealing with micropayment levels. There are not a lot of services that provide this kind of thing. ACH is a pain as well.

gittip and flattr are examples of an emerging gift economy. If that doesn't appeal to you, then you don't have to participate in it. The point is not that people are receiving market rate for services rendered. It is a way to thank, and per

Actually, even in big US cities results are really bad in some cases. in Seattle, for example, searching for common well known intersections brings up results halfway across the country.

Just FYI, for xhr to S3 you can set up a proxy which fakes the CORS headers. You might have already been aware of that. Filepicker looks neat. I wish it had been around when we were building our service.

It's not a new idea, but I think it is finally the idea's time. There was Prism, and there's FluidApp for OS X. There was also MS's active desktop as others have pointed out.
