Agreed, I think the builders are the wrong people to ask for this self reflection. Anything can be used for good and bad. A knife can be used to prepare food, or to stab someone. A drone can be used to attack a country, or to defend a count

More expensive is a difficult calculation: faster can sometimes warrant the higher cost, if it means you can go faster to market. Also, LLMs work 24x7, and can be scaled up and down as needed. Faster to off board an LLM than to fire an empl

Tax is not charity, tax is payment for community products and services. You have things you pay for individually, and things you pay for as a community. Charity is when you pay for things you dont need yourself, tax is when you pay for thin

Really depends on the company and who you're selling to. For a car company a tire is a feature, for other companies it's their product.

Same with the iPad Air m1, handles everything you throw at it, does video editing, office, etc. Connected to an external display and keyboard feels like a full laptop, on the couch is the best consumption device. And with Claude it can hand

Well either Microsoft finds a way, or Anthropic will. I'm sure they'd love to host all these projects with all the source and context. Maybe they should buy GitLab, or Atlassian.

Yah, the monitization bit is challanging. I'll ask my agent to click some of the ads GitHub serves it ;-) But getting this infrastructure right is crucial for a future where most of the code is AI generated. GitHub puts microsoft in a

I'm sure the underlying infra is not a single server, so this is mostly a period where they have to adapt to higher loads due to AI becoming actually useable in the last 8 months. It's basically proof how well AI works these days.

I'm loving it, running an opensource project mostly AI generated, i don't have to think about version control, building and testing my app, running AI code review, hosting my docs website, API and cli to enable Claude Code to inte

Why is centralized code hosting getting killed? I'm running an opensource project, >99% of the code is AI generated, could not do this without GitHub. Ai generated source code needs a place where AIs and people can collaborate. I&#x

I see it even on my GitHub project, issues and pull request comments get longer, responses get longer, all generated by ai and read by ai. This text is no longer for human consumption, but to provide context to ai. See also this video from

Looks like a pseudo programming language, hard to make it scale to large programs without running into the same context issues you have when generating code.

I think uml exists to help humans understand and communicate specifications, not because language alone is insufficient.

Because that allows us to create useful tools that we didn't have before. For me it feels like a carpenter going from a hand-saw to an electrical saw. Still requires the skills of a good carpenter, but faster and easier.

I've created my own DSL, and instruct Claude Code how to generate code for this DSL using skills. Since this is a new language, and not documented on the web nor on Github, Claude's ability is not based off of stolen IP. At best i

Opus and Gpt are generic LLMs with knowledge on all sort of topics. For specific use cases you probably don't need all the parameters? Suppose you want to generate code with opencode, what part of the generic LLM is needed and what par

I run a lot of Linux on my macbook pro m1, in parallels if i want a desktop, in docker or podman if i don't need a desktop. I prefer linux on my macbook to my previous Thinkpad (p1 gen2, 64gb, 2tb, 4k oled, core 9i). The thinkpad feels

I think Oracle PlSQL was also based on Ada, basically Ada + SQL embedded. So it may be the widest used version of "Ada".

That is not what i'm seeing. I've been coding intensively with claude code for the last 3 months: 200k lines of go, 1200+ commits, mostly using opus. I don't think i could have done this with a local LLM. Maybe on a M5 pro?

That is because they know the users. Users are very sensitive to this: if the outside wasn't changed then the internals cannot be much improved. You see this with cars, cars need a new design otherwise customer will think nothing much

Generating software still token costs, generating something like ms-word will still cost a significant amount, takes a lot of human effort to prompt and validate. Having a proven solution still has value.
