That would remove a lot of the benefits of using Java, might as well use something like c. Garbage collection has been highly optimized in the jvm, and most would consider it a benefit of a jvm compared to managing memory yourself.

So the only place you really define what objects get created is in the class containing the main method? Seems fairly limited that you’d have to know upfront what your memory needs are? An app would have to allocate a large block of memory

Any company that wants to do business in the EU has to comply with European rules, and their products have to comply with European guidelines. Electronics, cars, food, everything had to comply to rules. This includes antitrust policies.

First time I came to the US over 25 years ago, one thing I noticed that was really different from western Europe was the amount of artificial jobs: grocery store bag filler, elevator boy, parking place guard, etc. I hadn’t seen these in Eur

Sure, my go to database is also Postgres rather than oracle. Good enough for most things, without the downsides of the company oracle. Just wanted to highlight that Postgres isn’t unique here, and that serving http from a database is actual

Oracle database can do all of these things as well, and they even have a complete low code development and hosting environment running in the database, Oracle Apex. I know there are a couple of companies that actually serve their home page

There’s also a lot of proof of the downsides of not controlling companies: pollution, greed, child labor, unsustainable low wages, etc. Companies don’t care about the population, they’re just there to make money. If we don’t set boundaries

Because of corona many people now have no life at all (i.e., they’re dead), and many more would have died if not for all the measures, so not sure how the statement was overly simplistic. Same goes for the environment, if we don’t act, the
