Problem with the Fn keys is discoverability: i never remember which functionality is available on which key, and you have to remember different mappings for different apps. Actually thought Apple's solution for this, the touchbar, was

Was going to comment that sem versioning is much older than that, e.g., if I remember correctly version 6 and 7 (early 90s) used semver. Turns out that oracle also switched to year based versioning, thought it was still semver: https:/

What model does spotwx.com use? Windy can show 6 different models (gfs 22km, ecmwf 9km, meteoblue, icon-d2 2.2km, Arome 1.3km, UKV 2km) side by side so you can compare wind forecasts for the next days. Windy is my goto app for wind forecast

It’s using cloudflare d1 as a database, which is based on SQLite. What does this means for multiple concurrent users/sessions and transaction management?

If I hire someone to work on my house and they fuck up, e.g., hit a water or gas pipe, I expect them to fix it asap, with no additional pay. Fucking up is not part of the job if you’re doing the hiring…… Happened to me once, long time ago,

Consumers were also ok with manufacturing moving overseas, as they were all buying these cheaper products, making it impossible for local manufacturing to survive.

Why do you prefer manually doing this rather than using materialized views? Materialized views seem easier to create and maintain?

It’s optimized for reading and use: the first time you see a query written by another developer, the interesting bit is what data it returns (the select part). Once you know that, you may be interested in the how, where does that data come

Those are not American pickups, except for Ford f150, etc. And you don't see a lot of those in the Netherlands, very impractical. Regarding overlap of non-pickups, usually the models that are popular in the Netherlands are different fr

You see some American pickups, but I wouldn’t call it very popular. They’re also very impractical, hard to park, very uneconomical. Not a very rational purchase. The only brand popular in both the us and the Netherlands is probably Tesla.

So? most people would buy expensive bmw’s, Porsches or ferarri’s if they could, but they can’t afford them, so they settle for opel, Renault, Hyundai , Toyota or other more affordable cars. Nothing wrong with that. What is surprising is th

Agree on the missing indexes, was in a debugging session yesterday where missing indexes turned out to cause some issues. But I have little faith that people who forget indexes are capable of writing procedural queries that are always fast.

The problem with procedural is that it doesn’t optimize very well. The fastest way to get your data for a large number of random queries often depends on the data size, the available indexes, but is also influenced by changes in data size,

They state that for a typical user they expect an API cost of about $1 per user per month. Seeing that narwhal has a $6 per user per month plan, expecting 1/6 to go to the largest cost component doesn’t seem unfair.
