“I deal in information,” he says to the smarmy, toadying pseudojournalist who “interviews” him. He’s sitting in his office in Houston, looking slicker than normal. “All television going out to consumers throughout the world goes through me.

I grew up in a third world country in conditions that would be considered poverty here. Every day I'm thankful to be part of the 1% of the global population whose skills are in demand and who earn big bucks (relatively). I don't n

Unrelated to the content, this is the best way to archive a presentation with notes that I've found. Much faster to read than to see an hour long video and not as cryptic as a bunch of mostly content-free slides.

Sure... bigger batteries will be bulkier, but they will at least be an option. My Nexus 5 battery sucks and there is nothing that can be done.

I think your fundamental assumption is based on "possible" performance. I would argue that required performance has flattened over the last few years. A nexus 4 is a perfectly serviceable phone still. I think as technology improve

I'm reminded of this quote from Steve Yegge's platform rant[1] ... I'll argue that Accessibility is actually more important than Security because dialing Accessibility to zero means you have no product at all, wh

I wrote my own hack to do the same: https://github.com/aksrikanth/settings/blob/master/bin/setup... It works well enough, and I have to set it up once.

I read 'slang' as buzzwords, and I think that statement is equally valid today.

I tried this, but not because I believed that you would execute it, but because a very important use of such a tool would be to explain potentially dangerous commands and their implications.

If you've been looking for work full time for 6 months and not a single employer has wanted to hire you, being unemployed for 6 months is the least of your problems.

I think a more correct measure would take the population of the entire bay area into account, since many people who work in startups don't live in San Francisco or Palo Alto directly.

I'd love to have replayable version history (with comments on versions like mateja suggested). If it could integrate with github as a storage backend, it would be awesome :)

Every language is derivative. C++ looks like C. C# looks like Java. Scheme looks like Lisp. It's OK to stand on the shoulders of giants.
