Yeah. Tailscale uses 41641, and you can generally use whatever. I don't think there's any consensus, or majority.

They recommend Tailscale in particular. Tailscale control plane and DERPs (which are functionally required on mobile) will be among the first to go. Outline (shadowsocks-based) and amnezia (obfuscated wg and xray) both offer few-click insta

Yes. Fixed packet headers, predictable packet sizes. I don't know what "a common port" means in relation to wg.

Wireguard is not censorship-resistant, and most VPN-averse countries block cross-border Wireguard. Why reply a practical question in an area in which you have no experience?

On earlier kernels, `acpi_osi="!Windows 2020"` was often recommended. Though I'm note sure what it does. `nvme.noacpi=1` should be on, too, for all kernels. (all derived from the nixos-hardware repo; I use that)

I get below 5W at idle (ff and emacs open, screen at indoor brightness, wifi on) on my gen11 framework. Going from 8 to 5 required some tinkering. I don't think I ever saw 50W at all, even under load; they probably run an Ultra U1xxH,

Those numbers would imply <1h runtime, or a >50W consumption at idle (for typical battery capacities). That's insane. I've used Linux laptops since ~2007, and am well aware of the issues. 12x is well beyond normal.

Macs use Cmd to segregate the worlds. I think that’s neat, and if I were making a Linux computer, I’d think about making Win+XCV system-level copy-paste.

That was long true by that time. On supported hardware, and if you don’t need applications that are not on Linux, it was fine in the first Ubuntu releases at least. (in comparison with the state of Windows at the time, of course)

Password managers sync passkeys just fine. If you use one of those, the benefit of passkeys is that some sites skip their SMS 2fa if you use a passkey. The downside is that you can only use them from your own devices, where you have the app

TB-scale VPSes are not economical vs a home NAS. I see how that can be useful for smaller collections, though.
