Video version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDNtcBh-3o0 It's a decent overview of Lattice's business and some of their applications. Nothing too technical. A shame Ian didn't ask about open source toolchai

My point was more nuanced than that. Of course miners are influencing GPU prices. If miners stopped buying all GPUs, prices would probably go back to MSRP pretty quickly. But stopping miners from buying one GPU model won't make it sell

Most of TSMC's capacity is allocated years ahead of time. They're contractually obligated to supply AMD wafers at a predetermined price and volume. Also, GPUs are pretty good at mining Ethereum. ASICs are only about 2x as efficien

There's three main ways GPUs wear out, silicon electromigration, electrolytic capacitor dryout, and fan bearing failure. And the first two happen much faster at higher temperatures. Temperatures are similar between gaming and mining, b

They're not producing fully featured cards anymore. They're separating the market into RTX-LHR for gamers and CMP for miners.

This won't really do anything for availability or reducing scalper pricing. Miners are a sizeable proportion of sales but far from the majority. Gamers will be able to buy more of these GPUs but less of the non-LHR or AMD GPU's. G

For dedicated neural network use cases like vehicles, robots, and datacenters, dedicated accelerator chips are going to be huge. Tesla's been shipping custom silicon for a while, I'd be surprised if Waymo cars didn't have a T

I met an ex-employee, they have 500 employees in the Philippines doing annotation. They built some software to help annotate point clouds but it seems like mostly a contractor handling logistics that the tech companies would rather not deal

Unfortunately AMD's laptop chips are a generation behind the desktop. I have the AMD Thinkpad E485, it's significantly better at gaming (which I don't do on my laptop anyway) and a bit cheaper, but Intel laptops offer a bit b

Is this a product of Apple's functional structure? Most companies are divisional, so you'd have a certain number of engineers dedicated to MacOS, who have to come up with new features to ship every year, but Apple's divisiona

"one port to rule them all" would work fine if the computer could just show a popup explaining why your peripheral wasn't running in the mode it's supposed to.

How do you make sure that the video doesn't push something far more important to the pagefile? Does windows have a way of telling it the priority of an item in memory, or do you have to trust a caching algorithm?

Nobody does probationary periods because few candidates would pick a probationary period offer over a standard job offer. And it's presumed that top level talent will have multiple offers on the table, and if you don't then there&
