Is there some valuable disscussion of the article on rust subreddit? If yes, could somebody please link it here?

Notably, NetBSD has recently undergone a successful effort to implement such a decoupling of subsystems, while still remaining a monolithic kernel . Lo and behold, it immediately boosted the ecosystem of hobbyist FOSS OSes, by letting them

Do I understand correctly that it would be purely VoIP over GSM/2G/.../LTE? Where the particular VoIP implementation of choice is this "Matrix" protocol/ecosystem? Which potentially at some point (with enough f

Hm; to me this sounds rather in line with the following quote from page 4 of the OP document: "Against drilling with arms, as testified to before a Congressional committee, the Union will also fight—even for the enactment of laws, if

Is NoScript expected to be ported over to the WebExtension API? I know there were numerous bugzilla tickets tracking its feasibility, but not sure what's the final verdict and expectation?

Yeah, that's the key new info for me too, something I missed during the previous discussion - I think it wasn't mentioned at all then. The key quotes from the OP article: "Runway 28L was closed to accommodate construction; i

Personally, I always had (and still have) a much more positive view of the XKCD. I believe it actually shows an interesting way how people try to make the world better, and share their knowledge, in face of noticed errors. I believe this me

Will it work after the legacy addons support is removed? If yes, how can you tell? I couldn't find any related keywords I know on the addon's page.

Thanks Nenad! :) The links indeed look interesting, at least at a first glance, though it seems not quite clear to me which keywords are R2 vs. R3 (proposals?) vs. Red, especially in the link marked as [1]. Still, at least that's somet

I believe part of the reason was also some experience with C++, in which you sometimes have to "unconst" some fields of your const classes (the mutable keyword). This is a really ugly and nonintuitive design, so I assume they&#

Does anybody know if this is finally a real full-blown REPL? Does it allow starting new goroutines and communicating with them over channels? Does it support FFI, i.e. package syscall + unsafe? on Windows and Linux? Or is it again a "r

C is kinda small enough, that I imagine one can maybe have some chance at trying to hold the whole of it, including all nuances/warts, in one's head. Like, maybe even actually write a compiler for it. (See e.g. Dennis Ritchie, Fab

For serious exception safety, you have to be able to prove that all invariants all the code of your class relies on are kept between every 2 subsequent lines of your code in that class. Because exception can occur everywhere. And actually

I'm afraid I was not being sarcastic. Sorry. This is a totally honest and dead serious opinion from a long time C & C++ user. ("stars aligning" here means "you must also have luck". As I said: see SQLite.)

Oh no, no, no! Some people may reasonably, with some extreme care and diligence, maybe try to claim they can write safe and UB-free C code. If stars align properly. (See maybe SQLite. Seen as one of the pinnacles of crazy pedantism in C.

AFAIK, Go devs actually do a similar thing (i.e. test the compiler on a body of selected notable third party packages/apps) [citation needed]. An official central index similar to Rust's https://crates.io for Go is

I imagine one has to be extra careful to avoid spilling passwords and other secrets then. Probably best when it can be avoided by some technical means like ssh keys for git, etc.
