I hope one day it will be released, either by me or by someone else. :-) > There are many tools if you're working solely with plain text. …which means, people choose plain-text due to time preferences: a certain gain in short-term i

I'm at mma.sx, yes, and I love the community. :-) https://mathematica.stackexchange.com/users/1859/akater I'm interested in the topic and discuss it sporadically in chat but can never find enough time to

If I have a bitcoin in a wallet publicly known as “mine” it still would not count as a valid proof that someone can tax me on it. (I'm not American, it's a thought experiment.) How does one prove the ownership of the wallet? If th

Sorry but unless you live in R. as well, I know better. Internet users of the West have plenty of ways to fight back, and yet they don't really use any. They don't value the freedom they have — so they will soon lose even that.

At least UK has independent courts. Human rights activists should hire good lawyers, get them in touch with experts on networks and cryptography, and start example cases, adding nice proper focused coverage on top of it all to form a public

Maybe system programmers are “doing it wrong” now? Even when you write a simple VGA driver you have to solve some equations. They are simple, so what does an average [good] C programmer does? He writes them down in his favourite inexpressiv

Seems like lots of programmers despise advertising. It is an example of irrational religious behaviour, the very thing they claim to oppose. How much of advanced technology was forgotten and eventually reinvented due to the lack of proper a

Oh yes, +1. Linear algebra is about vector spaces; matrices are a separate topic. Unfortunately, Axler does not define determinant as a volume scaling coefficient and goes the still arcane way of “(-1)^\deg…” which does not really do justic

Avoiding commas is simple. Just convert Times to Sequence when needed and always use * for multiplication.

The language exists because it has distinctive features, like its evaluation model and symbolic nature. The rest is a matter of implementation. http://mathics.net is an attempt to create a free one.

I keep track on which cards have been drawn this round. Every time I need a new card drawn I use, say, one of 52 predefined generators picking 1 out of n <= 52 depending on a millisecond number. (I could even publish these: an attacker w

I'm not a pro (not even an amateur, actually), but the very premise of “shuffling the deck” bewilders me. Shuffling the whole deck is so obviously bug-prone. Why not just pick random elements from decks instead? If I ever wrote a deck

Wolfram language is fully homoiconic and it has idioms Lisp will never have (UpValues, for example). It's there for 25 years, and yet almost nobody seems to notice. I just find it extremely funny. :-)

Ah, a relief. Not that I doubted that S.W. is a reasonable person but open source vs closed source is such a… “religious” topic. :-) Collaborations in Wolfram language will be a pretty unique experiment, for they are likely to unite people
