Presumably the implementation is platform dependent and they wish to start with where they believe the most relevant developer mindshare is. I'd guess it's still somewhat tricky for them to playback different replays across platfo

Or, even more in the spirit of the GP, is it a photograph that Severian calls a painting because he's never seen a photograph?

This is one of those classic, massively overconfident HN comments. Nothing has proven worse for American cities than massive free public infrastructure devoted to private automobile transportation, and our only hope to make our cities more

Author here: there are protections in place for demolishing rent controlled units without replacing them. Otherwise, you could easily induce tenants to leave (or Ellis them) and then just knock down their units without replacement.

I got a tip from a friend that something was off with the whole duplex/sfh situation, and I guess I have a reputation for pushing through to publication with stories like this.

I am the author. I did not bother with a refutation of the terrible piece of legislation being proposed, because others have done a better job elsewhere. One could check out https://www.sfchronicle.com/opinion/openforum

"Do a bad thing" is a pretty major understatement of the degree of criminality we're talking about here. Over-representing the capabilities of Autopilot is a totally different thing that embedding a defeat device to defraud e

Uh, I mean, partly? It's a pretty strange argument to say that no one can be culpable of a bad thing so long as that thing is currently legal.

It appears so far that the NVENC chip has been the same in all the RTX 20xx cards. I haven't looked into whether that is the case with the 1660 TI, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

For me the decisive advantage Ruby has over Python is way better map/reduce/select semantics. Python's list comprehensions are just ungainly to me, and I've never understood the reverence for them.

Disagree. GP comment's language "joining coinbase was a no-brainer" was as pathetically guileless as SV gets. There is no world in which joining Coinbase was a "no-brainer," even if it was the right decision. Coinba

I mean, in the sense that any plant that grows consumes carbon dioxide as long as we don't turn around and burn it, yes. Biohacking any particular species to express a particular trait isn't exactly solved yet, though.

I think about this question a lot. I think the article (and Borges) touch on the core issue: abstraction. I find that many of my employees find it very easy to program based on their lived experience programming similar tasks, but hard to t

I think you are mistaken about CPAs and accounting. For one, they cost relatively little, and two, they perform actually a pretty substantial task. It's very difficult to tie spend together end-to-end through a company automatically. T
