You beat me to it! The Galaxy S was an ok phone, as it came stock. OK that is, if you liked waiting - a lot! But once I flashed a custom firmware onto it, I would have sworn I had a brand new phone! Then I read more about RFS, which only ma

We've recently done a redesign for a site at $work, but it's not using any sort of framework like Bootstrap or Foundation. Is it possible to add in Bootstrap after the fact? I would kill to have all the various UI elements available to me,

We've been using HipChat for several months now and have been quite happy with it. I'm using it to manage several remote contractors. The pricing is very reasonable. And it has an XMPP interface should you need it as well.

After some more digging, I suspect we'll be giving filepicker a try at $work. The value add looks very compelling, especially being able to do things like crop & resize. Our users have been asking for image resize functionality for year

This sounds like a fantastic feature! So much easier than checking logs and running explain manually. Plus it also looks like something you can trivially run in production. Is there any close equivalent for mysql, which we use at $work? The

Thanks for the link. I've added it to my watch list. IMHO, you can't get much better than BBC documentaries. Especially when it comes to my favorite - Sir David Attenborough.

Thanks for this! I'm downloading it and the Kindle Previewer now. I don't yet have a Kindle, but my birthday and Christmas are coming soon. And of course I have the Kindle app on my Android phone. :)

I used a VPN to watch some of the Olympic coverage on the BBC's website. While the video playback sometimes failed, I was simply blown away by all the options they provided. One aspect I never dug into much at all was on the data side. The

I too used Fop at my last $job to generate PDF files. As you said, the source was extremely tedious to write but you can't beat FOP for the precise control. I would first look to other solutions, since they can be faster, but FOP will alway

I'll soon be implementing image upload support where the images live on S3. It would be fantastic to be able to have the user's browser directly upload to S3 rather than go through the web server. If you were to open source your code I'd lo

Finally, someone gets it! Some people will always pirate, but I honestly believe a lot of people would rather use legal means (even if they pay a reasonable amount). It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I can only hope that mor

I read with great interest the write up on Anchor's work for the new Github architecture, so I meant no disparagement to the employee's skill. The problems I was referring to were simply the ability to keep from falling over at random times

According to my bosses who have done the research when setting up their web hosting, the Australian hosts are 1) uniformly VERY expensive and 2) not as reliable as hosting providers elsewhere. As someone else said, bandwidth is expensive an

Nice work! I'd love to see the addition of a volume control. With my headphones, even at the lowest volume level above mute, the music is still louder than I'd like. This seems to be a common issue for me with a lot of the embedded music pl

Indeed there are. I _want_ to reward the authors of technical books, but there's no way I'm going to pay the outrageous prices Australian distributors want. It's still much cheaper to buy from Amazon and pay shipping from the US/UK to AU th

I wish the EFF good luck with this case. They are certainly going to need it! The change in US government attitudes regarding spying on its own citizens (at least publicly) during the last 10 years is chilling to say the least.

Rental markets are still strong for landlords. Too many people wanting a place to live, and not enough stock to fulfil the demands. The local governments are speeding up the permit process, but it's going to take a long time to catch up. Pl
