Glad you published this Giles. I really think you hit the nail on the head in your criticism of rails, and not necessarily ruby. I think some of the framework decisions in the 3.0 release were kind "abstraction for abstraction's sake" moves

Fan-fricking-tastic. Thank you for writing this. This should be syndicated in the Times, WSJ, and every local newspaper in the country -- maybe then people would get it. Great piece.

Excellent synthesis Andrew, thanks for summarizing this. From my perspective, you really nailed it with the third and fourth points -- fans, communities and evangelists. It was truly amazing to see how excited people got about Zaarly and ho

I'm one of the first engineers to join Zaarly, I've been with the company since pre-launch (late April). I can tell you from analyzing the traffic statistics myself that these traffic bumps are extremely short-term. Tweets from celebrities

We were actually surprised at the lack of results relative to more traditional media and PR coverage. Getting celebrity tweets helps to get a few users, but it won't get you close to 100k in a few months if you don't do the other things rig

Some transparency would be appreciated. - Who are you? Your HN acct was created 14 hours ago, and it's name is extremely specific to this particular post -- "nomoremongo". Nothing wrong with it, just a little peculiar considering the subjec

I disagree that this is a "bad sign". This is one of the great things about open source software -- the creator of a library isn't, nor does he/she have to be for the library to be useful, the sole "expert" in that library. Your post proves
