Exactly. And if there's say, an article that gets posted about say, the financial crisis, it's nice reading the takes on it from people such as myself, people who are running startups, and it's even greater when someone like pg weighs in on

Have you never considered that, the reason you even see these things in the first place is because people upvote them? I mean, sure they are off-topic, but people are obviously reading them and liking it. Perhaps it's not so much the 'areas

I'm not so sure that he should be prosecuted at all. The equivalence to this is breaking into someone's house.. by asking their two year old if they can go inside and for the key. It's an equivalent level of security.

I have maybe three or four apps that I'd love to make for the iPhone. But, I don't own a Mac (As frankly, when it comes to desktops, I prefer PCs and I am a big Build-Your-Own person), so, I can't develop.

Maybe you're missing the point, however. What about the people who want to crank out some simplistic, but nifty apps which could drive further use of the iPhone, but they can't build them, because they (for some reason) can't afford a Mac.

I'm all for a 'big pot' and that if you put money in, you can then get money out. But at the same time, I think that people should HAVE to put into the pot, or you end up with a Tragedy of the Commons. No-one pays, because they don't like t

I'd argue that, on average, people act unhealthier in the US than they do in Cuba.

Ah, I meant more as in, if I were to keep stormpulse.com open all the time, would it automatically refresh and update and such?

I do so love 23andMe and as soon as I can either A) Set aside $399 for it or B) the price drops again, I'll be getting one of the spit kits. Especially as I am curious as to what shows up, as I already have one genetic disorder!

Does this automatically update? I'd love to have it constantly running on a spare computer, just showing storm data.

Am I the only person who exposes themselves to things they don't like (be it Fox News, conservative blogs, or even sites on car repair and marxism), just so they can avoid this trap? So you can know that whilst, yes, most of the time you're

Isn't this one of those games that used to be around a while back (outwar, et-al) that was essentially a pyramid scheme wrapped in a game and led to IRC networks, blogging communities and such insta-banning on a mere mention of them due to

I prefer the horizontal split. For reading say.. IRC, or websites, it's far more useful than a vertical split.

I think it's a little misleading, because whilst mininova is arguably the most popular torrent site itself, thepiratebay's tracker is the most used.

Having been an avid gamer ever since the first time I got my hands on a Commodore 64, let me weigh in. The subscription model does have its flaws, yes, but it is far from broken. One reason that gives rise to it is the sheer quality of 'fre

Usually when I see a 503, I think, "Great. The site is f-ing broken/overloaded/down" again. A 404.. I find, not so much.

I concur. I've known people who have wanted to add information to wikipedia and then go, "Why bother? It'll just get reverted by wikipedia moderators or something. Waste of my time."

You always see things like this, "Will start in five years." "Later this decade." and so on. But nothing ever comes from it. Whatever happened to starting small, cheap and fast? Is this only for webapps these days?

I have to agree. My father worked in the airline industry for thirty years and we had a number of pilots who were friends of the family. They have to bust their ass to even get a commercial flight licence, it's harder than going to medical
