Cool, but could do with shortening the 'function' keyword. It's just too long for the amount it's used.

You can report incorrect POI. Of course, that requires you to remember to do that, when most likely you're sitting worried in hospital after hunting around for a while.

If I understand your point correctly, you're asking how critical it is to always give different/random salts to each password? Even if you know that hash('password', 'salt1') hashes to a a user's hash, you'd need to recompute hash('password

I read your comment as "the style is different, and you shouldn't be able to protect effect, so Teller shouldn't be persuing this." Which is obviously a flawed argument if the style is the same. Apologies if I misinterpreted your comment.

I just used higher order functions to keep the example short, and I'd use them irl to avoid code repetition. The concept still applies without them: while (fTrueForAny(xs)) { } boolean fTrueForAny(List xs) { for (Item x : x

I judge them by screenshots and then icons. It's certainly easier than downloading them all. Ratings on the app store don't tend to be very accurate for my tastes.

Google have a heck of a lot more data to go on. It's not just the title of Facebook.com, it's the millions of links to it that contain the word 'Facebook'. The app store doesn't have that data, so has to rely more on titles to try and how y

This can sustain itself in part because there is a relatively clear divide between the mainstream and alternative comedy circuit. Within the mainstream circuit there is much more of a culture of sharing material, so one can be of the opinio

while (xs.Any(x => f(x))) { } Pulling things out into other functions makes it even clearer. Though yes, the goto is clearer than the labelled continue. I wouldn't necessarily agree that it's less error prone though.

Technically speaking, it's mandatory if you're receiving live broadcasts. You can have a television with no tuner without a license, and if you're watching live TV on your computer you're meant to have one.

The argument for not introducing a 'var' keyword equivalent seems to be "Javascript's implementation sucks", completely glossing over the fact that really it's the lack of block scoping and the presence of undefined that leads to variable '

What happens when you need to reinstall Windows? You use the restore disc that they give you with all the drivers installed. It comes with them more often than one may think. More seriously though, I don't know a huge bunch about drivers on

The way I read it his point was that Steam is the only one that isn't complete crap, and so Steam is in a very powerful position. You want at least a viable alternative to make "don't screw us around or we'll move somewhere else" a credible

It brings up an interesting point, though. If I have an infinite number of rooms and an infinite number of guests, then one might intuit that every room is occupied. There is a mapping of every guest to a room: guest n is in room n. Yet som

I can see how that works if you have an infinite number of rooms and an infinite number of guests, because you still have an unoccupied room to move them up into. But how does that work when you've stated that all rooms are occupied? I'm re

I'm gunna have to be one of those people that says "really? O_o" when presumably everyone else clearly grasps the concept. I get that if you had an infinite number of rooms, and an infinite number of guests staying, you still have room for

The difference is small because map is trivial, but the implications of using higher order functions isn't. Even something like trees sees a divergence between the styles (not necessarily in the order of assembly language vs. high-level, bu

Type coercion and asi are probably the least troublesome odd parts of js I encounter day to day. I find the weird scoping rules around 'this' and the verbosity of anonymous functions far worse. [1] (Sincerely and non-rhetorically) Do you re

Strangely your StringBuilder version seems to really slow down for me at around iteration 6000000. If I replace the repeated use of uuid.toString with `String uuidStr = uuid.toString()` it works fine. Looks like the performance of toString

The C# version has the overhead of looking up the Encoding and creating a byte array each character. This can be avoided by using the libraries correctly.

To be fair, it was trying to compare JIT vs. non-JIT. As futile as that me be via a microbenchmark like this, you need to compare as similar an execution path as possible. As it happens, the C# version is doing 16000000 more lookups for the
