More accurately, SASS includes the ability to create functions to build out prefixes, and Compass includes default functions to do this.

Thanks; we had an internal debate on wether or not to use ads, and we decided to see what happened if we included them. It is backed by bootstrap.

Thanks; we were both pretty surprised that it was available. We kind of named the site based on the domain, rather than the other way around. I like the idea of making edits public - kind of Stack-Overflow-like in a way, so that if someone

Yeah, that's a good point. We should tone down the buttons a bit; maybe use colored arrows (a la Reddit) instead of bright buttons. We used PHP and MongoDB with our homegrown framework ( https://github.com/Olivine-Labs/Mint ); we're working

We do have moderation, and you can set admins and mods on your own board, but I'm trying to refrain from using it too much. I hope that downvotes / new quotes drown out the 'does this work' kind of 'quotes'. I prefer a more open form of gov

It's a weekend project that a friend and I put together. If you have any constructive criticism, I'd love to hear it. It's a fun project that we built for ourselves, then opened it up to whoever else wants to use it for free. Thanks for cal

Many of us are familiar with http://bash.org , or have our own Google doc full of funny things people have said in IRC, Campfire, et. al; my friend and I put together a free service where you can create your own quote board. Boards are pu

http://www.alchemywebsockets.net (a friend and I built this.) Handles a ridiculously large amount of connections thanks to an awesome threading model. MIT licensed. Supports the RFC version and some older versions.

Chrome for Android supports WebSockets, and the "visible plan" is Google's plan to switch the native browser to Chrome. Additionally, IE 10 supports WebSockets, and fallbacks exist- such as flash- to give support to earlier versions of IE.

This is precisely correct. "Don't do x , except in one or two cases where you have to, and then you can hack around it using y instead of x " - rather than "use x by default." Simplicity should win; but alas, being one of the cool kid

It's not different. It's not different at all. It isn't about standards, it isn't about IE6 or FireFox or Chrome. It's about providing a baseline of functionality and building up features. It doesn't cost any more money or take any more tim

Downvotes totally undeserved. The notion that you have to use a specific browser- even if it's "a modern browser"- should have died with IE 6. Progressive enhancement of web applications is not hard, and is only overlooked because of ignora

Indeed. I've used http://rthauby.github.com/Paige/ for a few projects; it's a simple npm project that generates documentation from your readme file.

Oh, absolutely - but don't confuse a Rails problem with a Ruby problem. It wasn't Rails causing problems, it was Ruby itself.

As a fairly recent OSX and a fairly recent Rails user, I had no trouble learning either. That is, except for Lion and XCode 4.2/4.3, which caused me about three lost days. 'rvm get head' and 'rvm install 1.9.3-head' fixed that, though.
